Photographer’s Note
This man travels around South Brooklyn in a small red van everyday. Ringing his bell as he slowly moves down the side streets. The bell to me sounds like an ice cream truck, but people learn to recognize the difference over the years.
He sharpens knives. Costs about $10-15 for a few to be sharpened. He told me that it has been a family business and he's been doing it for years.
Old Italian women come running out of their homes wearing large nightgowns with their hair in curlers, to have their cutlery honed.
This is a moment of his work captured on film.

great note, Daniel.
I saw this picture some days ago and i am glad i am back to TE and to my comments. I feel it is somehow too smooth for the subject portrayed.
for some reason i think 'industrial' shots beg for grains instead of neatimage stuff.
other than that, i love this pov you caught, but i would like to see those sparkles more proeminent in the shot.

Great picture! I've never heard of such a person before- but it sounds interesting. The lighting is really nice in this- and then the sparks just make the shot. Good work!
