This building, in the capital city of New York state is the home of the state legislature, a similar function to the Parliament buildings in other countries. It was completed in 1899, its architectural style is Neo-Renaissance. For me the most attractive feature of the building is the landscaping around it and the fact that visitors can go inside and after a quick security check, can freely walk around and admire and photograph the ornate interior. (I will post interior pictures later.) This picture show a little bit from the large modern Empire state plaza in front of it I don't know what the cobblestone covered area called, but it is interesting, it is like the reflecting pools further back in the plaza, but this pool allows people to organize protests or celebrations in front of their government.

A very fine building, regal, elegant and yet somehow imposing; all very suitable for a building with such a purpose. And for me the biggest surprise is its design for its role, so many of the state capitals I have seen from the US have the similar grand imperial neo classical design with the central dome. This is a perfect composition to show this place off perfectly.
All the best
