Photographer’s Note
This was the destination of our hike up the Appalachian Trail at Delaware Water Gap (a follow-up to yesterday’s post). According to the sign at its entrance, Sunfish Pond is a 41-acre glacial pond with a highly acidic composition, and thus, only certain hardy species of fish can live in it, such as pumpkinseed sunfish and yellow perch. We saw lots of fish and frogs, all thriving and happy.
I have always enjoyed the abundant mix of decay and life at wilderness water sites, and here there was plenty to be found. I thought these two logs made a nice introduction to the view across the pond to a swath of wild laurel (that’s the pink), with the complementary wind pattern on the water.

Hello Lisa,
What a wonderful invitation to hike the Appalachian Trail -- which sadly I have never done. Your composition is excellent -- the logs are really effective -- and the light, shadows and ripples are spectacular. I would suggest adding a frame. Thanks also for the good note.
Regards,
Mary
