Photographer’s Note
I hiked with some friends through Lebanon State Forest in South Jersey last weekend and came to this pond, called Pakim Pond, about 3 miles into it. Although the southern third of the state is known as the “pine barrens,” there is still a lot of deciduous growth in many parts, and here you see the mixture. It had rained for much of the first leg of the hike, but by this time the weather was getting ready to break, so the next 8 miles through the deep pine woods were quite pleasant.
I had to stand in boot-deep mud to take this because the growth is right to the edges of the pond. The bridge itself was sort of ugly, but happily its surroundings worked like make-up on it, and it added a nice little focal point in the surrounding reflection.
Not much post-processing save for sharpening and some level adjustment & saturation to cheer it up.

Hi Lisa. Nice nuances of green and a softness and calm permeate the image. of course a nice red, Oriental looking wooden bridge or an old, European stone one would have been more dramatic, but one has what one has. I read your intro and noticed the affection you hold for your part of the'woods'. I always get reminded when such beauty is mentioned of the native, original people who lived there and who were ultimately dispossessed- how heartbreaking it must have been for them to forsake those glorious autumns you mention. Delaware I seem to remember is the name of one of the First Nations. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Lisa. Nice catch, a bit like a painting with the reflections. Nice handling of light and colour. Thanks for sharing.
Have a good weekend, Paul.
