[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Asbury Park was founded in 1887 and was once one of the most popular seaside vacation spots. Today Asbury Park is almost a modern day ghost town. What was once a thriving community on the Atlantic Ocean is now no longer. And it is obvious if you spend time in this town. At one time there were hundreds of hotels open to accommodate visitors to Asbury Park. Today there are less than five. There is a skeleton of a condo tower left unfinished when money ran out in 1994. Though boarded up or falling apart, many of the pictorial structures from Asbury Park's history remain standing, giving visitors a hint at her once grand past.

This photo, taken near the uncompleted condo tower and an abandoned motel, was resized and changed to black & white.

I can't believe that no one has rated this photo...
Composition is great, and choice of B&W is essential for it.
It rally gives that feeling of cold and abandoned place...

Maybe it has too much sky...

Elizabeth - What an absolutely atmospheric image filled with sadness. B&W is the only medium for this type of shot and you have captured it so well. The inclusion of a bus in an empty town - who is on it? why have they come here? Your notes are very good - why did it ever decline? Your picture raises many questions about social history and makes you wonder why some places thrive and some fail. I am surprise so few have given points to this picture. It has been added to my list of favourites as it is am image that you can get lost in.
