| I am up at Newfound Lake in Bristol NH in my new jeep wrangler...there is a road that cuts over the "mountains" between Bristol and plymouth and is not maintained during the winter. So i took the Jeep out for a little 4WD fun :) Many houses by themselves...no one living in them...and a few cemetaries. This is the Old Home Cemetary in Bridgewater NH. Incorporated in 1785. Saturation was brought to Zero and I bumped up the contrast and adjusted the brightness down somewhat (-7). |

Hello, George,
There is a surreal spookiness to this scene achieved, in part, by the harshly contrasting black & white values. I especially like the angle of the wall and the ornate, broken fence in the foreground which emphasizes so well the bleakness of the naked trees, the unornamented stones and the colorless sky. The closed gate gives us a view into the silent world of the departed, but keeps us separate from it. You have captured the melancholy sense of grim permanence in this abandoned place. Very nicely done.
Regards, Lisa
