[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
to continue my green postcards from New England (no water in this one thought) - a scene from "Piesaule", which was established in the early 1950's by the patrons of the Latvian Lutheran Church of Boston as a summer church camp. the church in the photo was built in 1959, and for years "Piesaule" has been the place for the biggest Latvian summer solstice celebrations in New England.

it's quite difficult to translate the word "piesaule". on the one hand, it's straightforward - "pie" is "at" and "saule" is "sun". on the other hand, this expression has a very specific meaning and describes a small and quiet place, usually near a building, that is sunny and protected from winds.

Kristine, nice photo. Great colors and POV. The place just looks beautiful. Nother great photo.

After browsing two full pages of TE, I landed here. Its really beautiful, in the sense that I can se the tips of the tress on the left and in the middle.
Your positioning of yourself while clicking this shot is superb.
Had you been a steps foward, the compositio would had changed to mere normal.
Its superb now.
Great Catch.

hi kristine,
very clear, very sharp and very nice colors, it also very strange for me to see a wooden church and much more strange is the shape it has,
thanx for sharing,
stratos

Hola Kristine bonita foto , a mi me gusta el contraste de luces y sombras , por eso el POV me encanta y el cielo adecuado para ese momento.
Un saludo desde Espaņa.

Hi Avene,
What a startling contrast to jump here from from Kristasp's inferno to to your bright, cool New England postcard. I like the framing with the steeple tucked into the trees and that warm, open spot behind the benchjes that seems to illustrate your explanation of piesaule very well. I do appreciate the explanation

Hi Kirsitine,
Wonderful capture of this charming little Latvian church that is seen in very attractive light that bring soothing shadows throughout.
Beautiful blue sky to contrast so nicely with the surrounding woods.
Regards, Tom
