[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This shot was originally buried in a work shop. I have brought it up as a post because of comments about it.

I thought the caption should be about something techinical but was later informed that it was more compositional.

I post this because if any of you have the opportunity to spend a day shooting with others from here on TE you shoould do it, it was a blast and meeting people that share an interest is always great. This is Zmey on the left and Avene on the right, thanks for a great day.

Hello Greg,

I like the effect of a wide aperture with a long focal lens. Only the lover photographs are sharp and all the remaining photo is in a soft blur.

Yves.

Hi Greg, nice love of photography with the love itself.. colorful clothes and daylight are great.. and the scene on the background is nice also..
ReLa

Hi Greg,
Please, show the both of them in front instead from the back, such a lovely couple....still in love ;-)
Very nice photo Greg, not only from the note but also on the technical side with placing them on the right in the frame with the right amount of depth with strong colours...very good.
Regards, Henk

hi Greg,

I see, we have been upgraded to a main post :) I wonder if Tamrac would notice this add for their bags :) but you're absolutely right, meeting other TE members is a great way to bring the communication and exchange of tips and tricks to a new level. for example, I'm seriously considering getting that HoodLoupe I saw you using, it did make a difference in checking the image.
you've got great light here, and I like that the light is still visible in the background, after all, that's what we came for to New Bedford.

and yes, it was a great day :)

with best regards,
Kristine

How lucky you are to have met these members and been able to get out and enjoy your common interest! An excellent picture of them. The colors are right-on, and I like the blur of the background. Very nice! Have a good day!

Great capture. Very poignant! The ones that said it's strength is composition are right. DOF is used to perfection and the rule of thirds framing balances the composition nicely against the fishermen and lighthouse on the left in the BG.

I know what you mean... not with TEers, but I have had the great good fortune to shoot in person with groups of top notch photographers who I've idolized only through their online photography. It is both humbling and a lot of fun!

Hi Greg,
I know these two but I would not recognize them from this shot. Wonderful warm photo of your two fine Trek friends. Clear crisp colors and sharp details. Really like the muted lighthouse background.
Regards, Tom

Hi Greg,

Your meeting is enviable as I saw many beautiful photos of friends. Great capture while focusing lovely couple. Their same style but different sized of camera bags are adding splendid details too. Perfect clarity and sharpness in natural colors. Thanks for friendly note too. Congratulations.

Best Regards,

Ertugrul

Greg,
Splendid daily life shot with talkative details. The composition is excellent and the colours are very fine. The title is expressive and superb, Very well done! Have a nice day
George

Hi Greg. Seems photographers don’t like their photo taken and now you are a TE star! (I’ve just seen Zmey’s post) Good photo though. Precision focus and nice soft BG. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

hi Greg

So these are the two who trekked Ecuador! Well I am a guy, so naturally more of my attention goes to the shawl over avene which provides a good distration over that 'hand' over her shoulder (can we clone out that hand please?... Just kidding)

What I like on this shot is the warm light falling behind these two, it sorts of isolate them from the rest of background blur, your good way to focus on them even at f/7.1 and at 200mmFL. Her headband looks special! giving a bit of that tribal sense.

YES, I fully agree. Meeting people with the same photography interest such as landscape or portrait, AND trekking outdoors will be a great moment to remember. It opens many channels within our body and soul.

I think you did a fine decision to post this one. I always believe TE group shots is a good laugh for the soul, the victims in the photo and the camera-man alike.

thanks for sharing, bill

Hello Greg,
Bella making this couple, Emphasizing as the main protagonist of the scene and blurring the environment. Excellent composition and beautiful colors. Well done.
Sincerely
Charo

Hello Greg,
very lovely romantic capture, interesting composition and good point of view, excellent sharpness and depth of field, nice colors and good light.
Angela

Hello Greg,

You are absolutely right! It is unbelievably interesting and this frienship proves it!

Lovely off-centre composition, good details and good dof.

I post shots on TL too. Two weeks a go a lady from Canada, whom I had met via the site, came to visit me on her trip to the U.K. It was a great experience and firmed up our long-distance friendship!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Greg
Interesting selective setting DOF (BOKEH) with a blur background.
It's a very nice place for meetings as you said.
Cheers.

Hi Greg,
very nice this image, with a good DOF too. Great colors too and interesting to see the TE´s photographers here.
Congratulations and Hug!

Hello Greg,

Indeed a very nicely composed shot, showing the couple contemplating something!?! Good art is open-ended. Each person takes away a different impression. Therein lies the infinite mystique of Leonardo's "Mona Lisa." I like this shot very much.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hi Greg!

Beautiful daily life scene, excellent job in framing and composition, also brilliant focus and shallow depth of field, to bring out your main subject. Perfect light managment, too! Congratulations!

Hercules

Greg,
there is the proof of my statement, at least if you analyze it from the point perspective. Your previous shot with this image hidden as a WS did far less well than this one here with the lovely couple heading to the end of the pier. Knowing who they are I almsot have the feeling that they are looking at the LCD screen to check out the histograms of their latest shots.
Peter

Hello Greg,
I like the context in which you created this image, in the meeting and the division. I like the clearness of the couple of people and the blur of the bottom which focuses the glance on essence. Excel prone, very good image, very beautiful intention.
Good night
Cordially
Joël

Hello Greg. Beautiful image with friends here in good spot. Well captured perspective and clever addition of human interest. Regards. Jusni

Bonjours,
Jolie photo de ces amoureux qui sont bien net, belle vue
Amitiés Thomas

Greg,
Nice one. The square crop makes for a perfectly balanced composition here. Clarity is particularly good here - whatever you did - do it again!!!
Regards
Colin

Very nice, Greg!
Lighthouse and K & K perfectly positioned, fine color and overall detail gradually fading away in blurred background... Well thought and well executed, buddy!
Wish I'd been out there with you guys.
Cheers,
Fulvio.

Helo Greg
Well well this are also our TE friends and it,s great when "we" meet us all over the planet
Next time one front shot
Thanks Greg
Bratislav
