Photographer's Note
For a 24 hour period during the February 8-9 Blizzard, the Governor of Massachusetts instituted a driving ban to allow more rapid cleanup and prevent accidents. It worked well, as the roads were clear far faster than anticipated and Massachusetts avoided any major traffic incidents. Here you can see the condition of the roads a couple hours after snow had stopped falling, but with the driving ban still in effect. A mother and children are looking around after the storm in the most effective form of transportation they can use: a small children's sled.

Hello Andrew,
This is a really nice picture with very good light and colors. There's also a fine depth provided by the stretched out family and the electricity poles. Even the yellow tone of the slushy snow looks quite nice.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Andrew,
this scene evokes memories of my childhood in Warsaw and one winter in 1986(one I remember good because of amount of snow). This is an excellent daily-life shot(even more when we think you had to go outside in such weather conditions to take it:)
Have a nice sunday

Hello Andrew,
Really nice snow scene. :-) I like the way the children and woman are following one another on the side of the street. That keeps the action in the right third of the frame. We had similar scenes over here after the blizzard. Unfortunately, one woman who tried to pull four small children in the same sled fell down when the string broke! She ended up fracturing her wrist. At least the woman in this shot is only pulling one child at a time!!

Hi Andrew. Truly a beautiful and well worth seeing picture of the winter season. Fine composition, dynamic visual style. The contrast between the snow and the colorfully dressed children like it very much. Really well seen and presented.

Hello Andrew - This is a super DL shot, I like the documentary feel which compliments your note very well. Fun for the children but maybe not so for poor mum who looks as if she really has to pull on that sledge to make any headway. Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Andrew
It's an interesting subject, a view on an icy winter day beautifully composed and timely caught the 'decisive moment' with lovely soft winter colouring, and each element invites you to look a little more and wonder. The bright splashes of colours catch attention adding so much life into the rather gloomy muted weather, as ti shot gives us a glimpse into another way of daily life here but the longer i look the more i really like it! - the positions of everything, closeness, everyone and the dynamic feel. It is a fine day-to-day image so very well taken, Well done
Kind regards

Hi Andrew
Oh this is certainly bringing back memories of when I was a kid living in eastern Canada. Same sort of city streets, same amounts of snow.
brings back good memories :)
out here in the west, its just rain...no snow unless you go to the mountains like Whistler.
cool shot :)
cheers

Hi Andrew,
It's only this year that I heard for the first time about driving bans in bad weather, as I watched the bad snowstorm on the east coast of the u.s. and I have to say, it makes perfect sense. I've seen too many occasions where people take too many risks in the ice. This is a very heart warming shot, it shows the enterprising spirit of people in any condition, and the perseverance of some to continue with their life's come what may. The road leading off into the image creates a fantastic sense of depth.
Nce one, thanks for sharing.

Dear Andrew
Welcome back, I'm glad you enjoyed your little break and are back refreshed and rearing to go. This scene reminds me of that movie Uncle Buck, with John Candy in it. It's a great reportage scene, and as I sit here sweating away in nearly 100% humidity, it stuns me that the world can get this cold. Excellent framing and composition. The perspective is spot oin and looks amazing. I love the powdery snow (something I've seen only twice in my life) and the pristine houses.
Lovely shot, thanks for sharing and I hope the weather gets milder for you

Hello Andrew.
I like the angle captured in this shot lining up an adult pulling the sledge with kids following her. You have lined up the image beautifully along the street.

Hi Andrew!
It's not an easy task:)!The place really has too much snow. It's a very good daily scene. The kid really seems to be enjoying the trip, while the others seem to be following the traces:)! Nice composition!

Hello Andrew,
You're capturing well this daily life by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see a agreeable spectacle in which a family's group pulls a sled and is walking along the snowy road. When the houses of both sides are seen, it is visible to the area of the standard home in the typical United States here. So, this is a lovely daily scene in winter.
Kind regards,
mikio
