[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
All the trees were green or blooming in white flowers. This came as a double take because of the blossoms' closeness to the color of the brick. The college is a beautiful place right on Highway 116 in western Massachusetts just north of Springfield. The buildings have a sense of permanence that could give the students a sense of attachment and grounding. Just next to the campus are myriad old homes similar to others I have posted from elsewhere here in New England.

Last week someone asked for a photo indicating the seasonal change; here is my version of spring.

The center of the frame is vertical....

Really an (New) England scene, it remainds me of my London days. A feast of colours and light.

Hello Greg,
a beautiful version of the spring which has delicacy not to hustle the established order of the colors. Very beautiful harmony in this image. Very good note, as usual.

Hola Greg,
La casa es muy bonita con una buena arquitectura pero los árboles que la acompañan aún son mejores.
Estupenda composición con muy buenos colores y detalles.
Cordialmente
Charo

Hello Greg,

This looks so English!
I was so surprised that it was a view from New England!
The focal point is the blossom tree but that quickly gives way to the lovely old building with the interesting bays and windows.
The big tree on the left balances the whole whilst the person adds scale.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

hello Greg,
the explosion of blossoms is a great illustration of spring, but for me the person caught sunbathing is what makes this photo so interesting and full of spring mood. the lush green compliments well the similar colours of the building and blooming tree, which, in turn, makes the photo very harmonious. excellent observation and great shot, I like it a lot.

with best regards,
Kristine

hello greg

yup, the campus of mt. holyoke is quite charming, isn't it? love their neo-gothic buildings and their gardener does some pretty good job too. the shot is nice, but, i think, i would have preferred later (or earlier) daytime sun. in the bright mid-day sun, the color of the blossoms gets 'swallowed' (blends with the bricks, becomes kind of grayish). i know, this one (the tree) can be really radiant in evening sun.

warm regards,
kristaps

ps. thank you for adding me to your favorites. i appreciate, friend.

Bonsoir,
belle photo de ce colège avec ce superbe arbre sur le devant de votre photo, belle architecture, beau ciel.
Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté, bonne lumière et bon jeux d' ombres.

Amitiés Thomas

Hi Greg,
I really like this NE college view of yours.
And I love that stretch in your note saying " The buildings have a sense of permanence...", which is exactly what I see in this picture.
There's an awful lot of history and a very special atmosphere in your neighborhood, which you're capturing and presenting to us, time after time, in a most appealing and truthful way.
This shot IS New England. Almost subdued in its tones but, oh-so VERY tangible!
Wonderfully atmospheric and totally representative of NE, buddy!
Have a great day, see ya soon.
Fulvio.

Greg,
pure impression of New England in spring. It really reminds me a lot of Ol' England. The colors and contrast are real eye-popping and I love it! The guy at the right side sitting and reading are the right add to the landscape.

Hi Greg,
I feel envious of that lady enjoying the Spring sun while reading. The place is indeed lovely, for its brick architecture and those magnificent trees. The POV is impeccable, as usual, I like how the bigger trees seems to involve the smaller, blossoming one and the other behind it. I am a bit surprised for not finding here the usual great sharpness of your posts, but I know how difficult is to make a sharp image with so much foliage and textures fit in 200 Kb.
Regards, José.

Hi Greg,

Interesting connection of different colours. The wall of the building in the background is similar to the colour of the tree in the spotlight, while the other tree is so much different. And that silhuette on the right adds a finishing touch to the overall effect.

Cheers

Hi Greg,
Lovely spring time capture of the red brick contrasting nicely with the blossoming trees and lush green lawn. The student sunbathing and studying adds nice scale to this beautiful May landscape.
