En allant pour une longue fin de semaine à Boston, une petite escale dans la jolie petite ville de Rockport valait le détour pour son quartier de boutiques sympatique, et son bord de mer aux gros rochers. La ville tire son nom des carrières de granit qui ont fait la réputation du port pendant le XIXème siècle, et connue par la suite en tant que communauté d'artistes, Rudyard Kipling a fait connaître l'endroit par son livre "Captains Courageous, et l'exposition universelle de Chicago en 1933 a immortalisé une remise de pêcheur désormais connue des peintres et photographes sous le nom de Motif Number 1.
Plutôt que de m'intéresser à ce monument dont l'éclairage de ce jour-là me semblait insufisant, j'ai trouvé que ce petit voilier dans la marina au travers des vieilles bicoques offrait une composition pleine de poésie.


While going for a long week-end in Boston, a welcome stop in the nice little town of Rockport was worth the detour for it's old quaint boutiques & sea walls of big rocks. the town is so named from the granit quarries who made the reputation of the port between 1830 & 1930, and was later known for it's artist community, made famous by Rudyard Kipling in his book "Captains Courageous", the Chicago world fair of 1933 rendered famous a fishing shack now renowned among painters and photographers under the name of Motif Number 1.
Instead of paying attention to this monument whose lighting on that particular day seemed less than ideal, I found this little sailboat in the marina behind the old shops and found it offered a poetic composition.
