Photographer’s Note
On this day in the fall of 2006, there was a unique convergence of color, light, and weather in New England. This was not replicated this year and makes visiting the area for that quintessential shot somewhat fickle.
This year, the leaves are very uneven in color due to the dry spell in early fall that caused some trees to fade early while others are still adding color this late in November. It looks very spotty compared to this one that shows the evolution of the leaves from green to color to water debris.

The colors are amazing. The branches on the top right corner fill the frame and gives dimension to the photograph.
Well done.

Hi Kathy,
Beautiful New England colors. Love the maples. Polarization has helped with the saturation. But overcast weather would let the colors come out better.

Hello Kathy, wonderful composition but that reflection by itself really steals the show here. That wonderful soft dreamy blur of color is well captured. The fallen leaves in the lower right corner are well placed.
I experienced this fickleness myself in 2005 when I painstakenly planned a trip to Vermont in mid-October, I had carefully researched where to be when, and then the leaves just didn't cooperate. In an average year (if that exists) I would have been able to head south or north from central Vermont and be guarenteed to get great color, but not that year.
Guess you have to recognize when the conditions are good a particular year and take advantage of them like you did here.

Hello Kathy.
Quite amazing colours; the trees and reflection seem almost to be on fire. The reflection looks like it has been applied with water colour and brush. Nicely composed to include the pebbles bottom right and the tree above. A marvellous autumn shot.

Hello Kathy,
What a spectacular image of changing leaves from last fall! The water appears to be on fire, and against the reflected patches of blue, it is especially vivid. I knew that the dry summer prevented the brilliant colors we had all witnessed last year.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Olá Kathy
Uma linda paisagem em tons quentes que refletem na água ondulada criando um belo efeito. Gosto das folhas em primeiro plano, boa textura.

Hello Kathy,
Simple place but the colours are special and the tight black border you have chose make the colours really stunning out. I like it...
thanks
