Photographer's Note
Boston's North End is a community that until recently had been isolated from most of Boston by an elevated roadway. It is currently, and for the last 50 years or so, largely an Italian community; before that, it was largely Jewish, and before about 1880 it was mostly Irish. The architecture is still pretty old-school, and the streets are European in feel, with lots of narrow alleys. This is a shot of someone's living room, with two lovely pottery pots outside containing plants that, unaccountably, have not yet frozen solid.
