More from Sail Boston 2009
The Mircea is a three masted barque, built in 1938 in Hamburg by the Blohm & Voss shipyard as a training vessel for the Romanian Navy. Her design is based on the successful plans of the Gorch Fock; the last of a series of four sister ships. The ship is named after the Wallachian Prince Mircea the Elder. After World War II she was temporarily taken over by the USSR, but later returned to Romania. In 1966, she was overhauled by Blohm & Voss.

Hi Greg,
What else to say other than, wonderful capture.
A spectacular sight, the white hull and the yellow spars.
Is there anything more romantic than a Tall Ship.

Hi Greg,
Excellent shot and good note for the history of this beauty. It is like a work of art. I like your management of the colors and light so natural and beautiful without going overboard with the saturation and contrast. Don't know why, looking at this image and since it taken in Boston, make me think of the Tea Party, from my American History classes. Thanks Greg, my complements.

bonjour Greg
ta série sur les bateaux est superbe, surtout celui-ci, il est grandiose et c'est la fête, beaucoup de monde en ce jour; en navigation il doit être voluptueux
belle serie

Nice to see that soemeone went to see the tall ships in Boston, although for me it it is less Sail Boston and more the arrival of race 4 and the starting point of th cruise in company for the Tall Ships' Atlantic Challenge 2009. Perhaps during your visit in Boston you saw a small Dutch ship called Tecla. This was the ship I sailed with for race 2, between Tenerife and Bermuda just 4 weeks ago...

Greg,
This is a nice shot of this grand old ship. The angle of the shot works well giving the scene depth and direction. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. It's a shame that the modern powerboat had to be along side.

Hi Greg,
You captured wonderfully the elegant beauty of this ship. The yellow paintings make a very nice contrast with the dominant blue of the image. The POV couldn't be better chosen and the clarity is flawless.

Hello Greg,
The proud ship Mircea looks good from this angle!
The finer details in sail and rigging are well recorded, the framing is attractive with good division sea/sky...
Great light renders fine colours!

Bright colours and a good framing for this (very) tall ship decorated with all the flags. The yellow masts contrasts finely with the blue sky and the pov gives a good sense of depth. A fine start for this outstanding event.
Lets proceed with the other...

Hi Greg,
this famous sailing ship is a very pleasant sight (and for me a well known view, since the Gorch Fock is often visiting Kiel). An excellently composed impression with wonderful contrasts and very beautiful colors. I also like the atmosphere of this charming impression. My compliments!

Hello Greg,
I have weakness for beautiful tall ships, especially when they are taken in fine weather :-) I like the POV and the perspective view. The ship itself is a real beauty!
I also like the natural colours which emphasize the beauty of Mircea.

Hi Greg!
So you've been to Boston! I wish I had gone to the Atlantic Challenge too.
Lovely composition and light. I always wanted to see all 5 sisters together. So far, I have only seen Eagle and Gorch Fock.
Cheers,
