[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the area off the common of an old town in Massachusetts, old by North American standards anyway. Incorporated as a town in 1735 but settled as early as 1655, this town gave up the first patriot life at the North Bridge in Concord, May 19, 1776. Captain Isaac Davis (no relationship) wheeled the Acton Militia Men out of line and advanced toward the British regulars. His dying words are reported to be "I have not a man who is afraid to die"

Over the next months I will retell tales of New England and accompany them with photos to represent the events. This is the next step in my trip of re-discovery; this is the town in which I grew up a very long time ago.

well, for about a year now I have a veeeery soft spot for New England (Mass in particular) and its white curches. I've tried, but so far I haven't been able to get at least one shot of them worth showing - either the sky is dull gray and the white of the church does not really stand out, or after half an hour of desparate pacing around I give up on finding a good point of view (ironically, I did get quite a decent shot from the Peace Pagode, see here)
I definetly like colours in your shot, and how the branches in the upper left corner gives nice depth to the scene, but the photo seems to have some noise in the upper part. I'm also not sure about the electricity pole and the net of wires, as well as about the pitch black shadow in the lower part of the shot. may be a judicious crop or a different point of view would give even better results. still, this is a very illustrative shot of a typical New England town. thanks for sharing :)
best,
Kristine

Greg,
Nice composition and POV here using the road to lead the eye into the photo. The angled light and long shadows create nice contrast throughout the shot. The only downside to this shot is the power lines but there seems to be no way to avoid them. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and DOF.
TFS,
Asa

Hi Greg,
This lovely little New England village has changed little from your youth. The trademark white wooden church looks especially impressive against the vibrant blue sky as it is framed by the lovely lingering autumn colors. Very nice historic note to accompany this fine composition.
Regards, Tom

Hi Greg,
Excellent colours of the church against lovely blue sky.The shot composition looks very good.

I have a HUGE interest in churches. Love seeing the different architecture, and this one is very nice! I love how you've taken in the intersection. The color and sharpness is perfect. TFS

Hello Greg,
This image is pleasant and is used as support with a beautiful history of heroism. I wait impatiently to discover the places of your memories of childhood. Good and pleasant work.
Have a nice day

Hi Greg,
I can see this was a tough shot.
Big time difficult to manage that white and have it fitting into the overall lighting.
But I like what I see, the compo is great (nothing one can do about those wires), so are the colors.
I appreciate the fact you went for it and I also appreciate your work in PP. Not an easy one the latter, by all means.
Good job, buddy.
We go for the shots, man. That's a damn good attitude.
Catch up with you later.
Ciao,
Fulvio.

Hello Greg -

This image screams N.E.! I love it! Beautiful skies, downed leaves, against the white clapboards of old house and churches what is better to look at on an autumn afternoon? Exposure and other technical details spot on. The composition tells that N.E. story. Well done!

Thank you for sharing.

John

Hi Greg,
The place is lovely, specially under that warm toned Autumnal sun light that you used so well. However, I guess that it wouldn't be so intensely attractive if it hadn't such a great compo.
Congratulations.
Regards, José.

Good morning Greg!
Very lovely composition with a beautiful view at the town center. Amazing colours of the autumn, superb contrast between blue sky, white walls of the buildings and dark shadows in the foreground. The architecture of the town reminds me old Canadian towns in Ontario. Impressive shot.

we cant do without them for life but wires almost ruin photos dont they? This place has a rich history for patriotism it seems and right now the whole area seems so quite. considering that the state of Massachusetts is covered with such nice leaves and green areas, I am pleased to see this spot even only for that reason. thx for sharing

Hi Greg
Fall's color, against the white of the buildinds, are giving this composition a perspective and a beauty that you cn not achieve at any other time in the year.

Beautiful
Charles
