Dandelion Song

Dandelion Song
(Linda Allen, Kristin and Jennifer Allen-Zito)

Well, flowers come in green and pink and red,
And they sleep all day in their little flowerbeds,
But the little dandelion grows wild and free
With her uncles and her cousins and the whole family.

CHO: Dandy, dandy, dandy, dandy dandelion,
There's something pretty dandy 'bout you.
Dandy, dandy, dandy, dandy dandelion,
I wish that there were more of you.

First I make a wish, then I blow real hard,
And the little dandelions blow all over the yard,
And I wait and I hope for my wish to come true.
Guess there's only so much a dandelion can do.

Now in 1800 things were bleak and bare,
Not a little dandelion anywhere,
But Cathy Maynard knew that dandelions cure,
So she brought them to Washington, and we thank her.

Some people think that dandelions are a pest,
But I think that dandelions are the best.
Dandelions, don't you know, are really cool,
And dandelion haters should go back to school.

You can make them into necklaces and bracelets too.
You can decorate your laces to tie your shoe.
You can make them into salad greens or dandelion tea.
That's why dandelions are for me.

Hi Tom,
Tis certainly the season for dandilions. Trying to control them is useless so the best solution is to enjoy yellow. Nice shot and good poem too. TFs. Gerald

Hi Tom,
Truly amazing landscape.Very well composed and captured photo. Great color, details and light.Very well done
Georg

Tom,
a so typical spring image with dandalion covering the grass. An image that reminds me so much of my time in Switzerland although I never saw any dandalion at the sea there. Now in California the weather is quite different and dandalion is a rarity. Lovely moment of sweet recollections.

Hello Tom,
It is dandelion season in my part of the world too!
Beautiful flowers, but I can understand they are not so popular on the lawn where they tend to take over the show, hehehe...
Yellow, green and blue... The perfect colour palette of early summer!
Greetings,
Pablo -

I am one of those people that love dandelions, as long as they are NOT in my yard, but in a scene like this they really are lovely. And my kids use to pick me HUGE bouquets of them :) A very pretty poem, and a very pretty scene. TFS!

Hello Tom,

Dandelions, like butercups, are very prolific in their dispersal habits! But, they do make the most wonderfully coloured displays for photographers and artists!
The green and yellow combined, make a very pleasing f/g show before the eyes shift to the blue tones of the sea and the sky! The whispy clouds add to the sense of vastness.

How people, who live in overcrowded, busy cities, must long to be in a place like this ... even if only for a holiday!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
p.s. On the Internet, there are some very interesting herbal remedies attributed to dandelions! :-)

Hello Tom,
nice this landscape view of this area in Vinalhaven Island.I like the infinity of the horizon as the great contrasted colors between the blue and the green.Nice and the song of Linda Allen.

Have a nice weekend,Danos

Nice view of theis area Tom, low tide is always appealing to me, I seem to never tire walking among the stranded floatsum. Fine detail and color, nice capture.

Greg

Hi Tom
splendid spring shot with these beautiful dandalions in foreground which adds a lot of attractive and charming for this amazing landscape. Good POV and framing. Well done. Best regards, Consuelo

Hi Tom
Great shot that is well exposed. My only comment would be to crop out the sky somewhat to give more emphasis on the dandelion patch. I thionk I would like to visit Vindalhaven one day. You have done a great selling job here.

hello tom

nice island dandelion view! it seems, you've found a paradise of your own there... (at least, judging by TE presence: there is no one else posting images from vinalhaven). i like the fresh mood in this one. just the horizon feels a bit too centered for my tast. i guess, i would have tried to give the dandelions more space in this one.

warm regards,
kristaps

Hi Tom,\
beautiful landscape and the picture is realy well composed with the easy going meaddow and sky as frame for the panoramic rocky bayside.
Regards, Gerrit

Hi Tom, a rich field with dandelions they are very good to see, some years ago I eat them I think before they had the nice yellow bloom.
The horizon here is nice clear, especial we can see it between the part with the water and the sky.
Very nice illuminated image too.
Cheers
Evangelos

Hi Tom, I looked at this, read those lovely words & it reminded me when were kids we would pick one pull the petals out one at the time saying she loves me, she loves me not.
Nice shot, good colour & great depth. they look great in other people's yard.
Thanks
santo

Hi Tom,
Good work making the FG dandelions a major player in your compo; having tried many photos of flower fields, I know the task is difficult. I think this one works so well because your framed the field against the sea. The song is also cute and informative.
