While wandering down Clamshell Alley on my beloved Vinalhaven Island I spotted this old beauty. So I leaned by bicycle against a fence and snapped a few shots. I got a very sour look from its owner but it was on public property so I snapped away. I'm often seen trespassing to get get a good shot. Most folks understand but this man was very grumpy. I guess with such a valuable vehicle comes a certain amount of stress.

Ooooooooeeeee, that's a pretty little thing. No wonder you were willing to risk his ire. That light is just indescribable. Fabulous color and clarity, perfect contrast and exposure, mad detail.... And just the PERFECT view of that beautiful little roadster. What a shot! Thanks, Tom and kindest regards,
Shelly

Hi Tom,
Beautiful old car. Your shooting angle allows to frame the village scene around and above it. Very nice colours and excellent light.

He should be proud to show it off. It's a beaut!! and I love the color. A very beautiful sharp picture. Have a good one!

Ignore the grumps in life, and snap away !. So long as you are not trespassing or in other ways infringing on someones privacy. But to snap an obvious head-turner subject such as this, I say ignore the grump.....! Its always interesting to learn of the story behind the image, or the making of an image.

Hi Tom
cette vieille auto se marie bien dans le décor vieillot de ce village, très belle composition bien présenté, beau travail.

Hi Tom
Independent of the glance not very receptive of the owner of this old car, you were courageous and took the picture. This fact also sometimes it happens with me and other photographers, because we are always discovering new and interesting things for us to take a photo, but the owners of these things don't like pictures a lot. Good shot with nice colors, contrasts and POV. Well done. Best regards, Consuelo

Hey Tom.
This a timeless shot. It could be the 1930's or whatever the age of this vehicle. I guess I might be worried too if it were mine. Well composed and the exposure and sharpness are spot on.

Tom,
trespassing can end with some bad experience and the last time I did that was in a little mining town in the Californian backcountry and I was lucky not to get in bigger trouble. My only concern was taking shots of old rusty car wrecks. So, actually no reason for aggravation. At least I would understand that type of behaviour with such a beauty as you got it here. Lucky you to get it on public land.

hey, Tom

quite a charmer: your model here... nice composition showing it where it belongs: in the environment of this island lobstering village. the light seems a tad harsh, but it does not bother me much. i am surprised about the owner's attitude though. if one owns a car like that and leaves it on the street for display: isn't attention what the owner is kind of looking for? ;))

warm regards,
kristaps

another fine photo, Tom, may be a bit too much adjustment of highlights and shadows for my taste, but that's not a major point. the harsh light makes the car really SHINE, look at all the polished metal things going "zing!" :) funny to see this car in the fishing village, I would have thought the roads there are more suited for 4x4. but I have to admit, the contrast is another great thing about this shot. well seen and presented.

with best regards,
Kristine

Tom, nice subject, mighty scarce I would imagine. I like the exposure you have here, there seems to be no part of the frame not properly lit and from the shadows I surmise that it was near noon when youcaptured this one. Great color and detail, well seen and made more interesting by your perceived trespass to get it.

Hi Tom,
It is a beauty, too bad he wasn't able to enjoy your appreciation of it. Nice framning; the old car fits with the classic cottages. Nice detail and color as well.

Hello Tom, What a car you would think that he would be proud to have people stop & admire it, maybe he thought you would tamper with it.
Nice POV allowing us to see the village behind as well. Light, colour & clarity are excellent.
Thanks

Hi Tom, What a beautiful car with great history & I'm glad you had the nerve, because it was worth it, I agree with dareco, however I can also understand your statement about a certain amount of stress, you have photographed it wonderfully well, kind regards Wilson.

Hello Tom
My firt impression is paradoxal: A luxurious vintage car surrounded of modest buildings!
Im presume its owner is rich enough to ride it despite the excessive price of fuel.
You had a "sour look" from its owner and I cast convetous glances at it!
Best regards.

Hi Tom,
I found a jewel too : this one...
The silvery light in this picture is fabulous, just PERFECT! Exactly what you needed for this awesome roadster.
Trespassing? It's a miracle if I haven't been shot at yet, but I wouldn't bet my willie on things staying that way... LOL!!!
Have a great day, guys!
See ya later,
Fulvio.
