Greg,
I have seen a few shots of this fine lighthouse on TE, but I think this is one of the best. The lighting and colors are great as is the sharpness and detail. Your composition is fine using the waterline and fence to lead the eye into the shot. The polarizer gave nice results here creating nice saturation and contrast.

Asa

Hi Greg. Great photo. You have handled the high contrast light well and managed good detail in the white lighthouse and shadows. Good colours and composition also. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Greg,
Wonderfully captured and composed... I like the overall balance of elements. The rocks created a very interesting foreground... nice texture. Image quality and color clarity is also very good. Excellent work! tfs

I like the lighthouse but it was the wonderful house that caught my eye. It is a great work you have here. The WS are very good too and it is quite understandable why the light in the island is in so bad shape. Is it still working?

Hi Greg, this is a postcard shot. This could sell people on the state of Maine and Portland. Your composition is excellent with very good detail seen in the rock, lighthouse, and keepers house. Colours and colour contrasts are excellent. I had a look at the website, and a couple more. I'd say the people on the Annie C. Maguire were lucky to wreck where and how they did. They all got off safely.
Thanks, John
Hi Greg,
Nice capture, good composition and colours, I would brighten it up slightly and improve contrast - please see my workshop, hope You'll like it,
best regards,
Tomasz
Hello Greg
Nice coastal scene.Good colour combination.
I would have left the main building and half of the rock. Just small hut and light house on the left corner and just sea. The boat will be more relevant then as well-it is very subjective. Thanks for the sharing.
Regards from Peter.

Hello Greg,
the three images are worthy to be in principal image. The realization of the three is without reproach. Good spectacular and interesting work.

Hi Greg,
Another great capture of this beautiful lighthouse. You had a wonderfully clear sky to set off the incredible details of this fine house. The colors are vibrantly clear with excellent sharpness to this beauty.
Regards, Tom

Hi Greg,
so to see it doesn't look like an easy shot to me, and I specifically refer to light & high contrast. But you handled it all to the max, therefore my sincere compliments.
And I love the use you made of fence and waterline to lead one's eye deep into the picture.
Great view, excellent effort!
Cheers,
Fulvio.

Hi Greg,
Lighthouses are often very picturesque, and this one is no exception, but it's clear to me that your choice of POV contributes much to the great punch of beauty of this photo. The other lighthouse, on the distance, is quite intriguing and I am glad you told and show us that it is indeed a lighthouse, because for a moment I thought it was a tall rock in the middle of the see. Being on the centre of the image makes it stand out, despite being so small.
You did a great job with the light, the image is very clear, sharp and presents great colours, but I also find it slightly dark and I must say that I prefer tomszat version.
The WS's are a good complement to complete the vision of the place. They are technically spotless, but I think you could have done better by using not so centered POV's.
Regards, José.

Hello Greg
Im fascinated with lighthouses and this one is a beauty, I prefer this to the other one you posted simply because the mood in my opinion is better. Nice rock formations leading up to the house and lighthouse. The lighthouse itself had nice clean whites and the blues from the ocean are good. Nice sharpness overall. Nice work

Jim
Hey Greg. Great shot of the Portland Head Light.
That lighthouse in the background is called Ram Island Ledge Light. It's kind of a creepy old lighthouse. We used to tell ghost stories that on some nights you can see the body of the last caretaker hanging from the wooden beams. It's a completely fabricated tale though... or is it?

Hello Greg,
I notice the impressive quarters for the lightkeeper!
This is a fine composition with vibrant and living colours, inclusion of the rugged shoreline tells about what waited the ships unless the lighthouse was there...
Greetings,

Ive had the pleasure of seeing this once. I've heard it's the most photographed lighthouse in the US. Nice TE post. I never get tired of seeing these lighthouse shots. Thanks for sharing.
