[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Victorian style architecture is the dominant feature to be seen in the village of Stonington, Maine. Known as Green's Landing prior to this time the town on the southern most point of Deer Isle experienced a building boom due to the extensive mining of granit. Today's economy depends on lobster and tourist. These kids are having a good old time hanging around the town hall steps.

Hello Tom,
A good upwards point of view on this splendid building, so typically Victorian. The stone steps provide a good lead line. Very good colours and clarity.

Hello Tom,

Good looking to white beauty under splendid sky. I like child's play and their relaxed concentration a lot. Nice additions of greens and colorful fire valve too. Congratulations.

Best Regards,

You have such interesting buildings in your corner of the world. This is very pretty! TFS

Hi, Tom,
what a cool shot. I love all the different lines and angles - the horizontal lines of the steps and siding in contrast to the vertical ones of the walls. Wonderful light and color and excellent detail and I like the view looking up at the house. That blue sky is brilliant. Great job! Thanks and take good care,
Shelly

Hi Tom,
Naturally what drew me to this photo is your wonderful sky!! This is such a typical East Coast style, I thought it was the children's home until I read your note. As many comment, you did a very nice job of framing the house, I expect it took some thought.

Hi Tom
Interesting shot about this architecture's style and the kids that playing on the hall steps are interesting because show us the simply style life of all the kids in the world, therefore they are in kind's age that they don't have any concern about on anything. Good shot with ecellent details. Well done, regards, Consuelo

Hi Tom
Wonderful colours here. The large mainly white building has many coloured accents to it especially the fire hydrant whose top matches the young lady's top.

hello Tom,
although the perspective feels a bit distorted, I do like this upward point of view that places the white house against the great sky, I might try even lower POV to emphasise that. excellet use of stone wall and stairs to frame the house, and including the kids in the frame adds a feeling of careless and calm life. but my favourite element is the yellow hydrant and yellow markings in the lower right corner, it's a great accent and a nice finishing touch to a well-composed photo. excellent work.

with best regards,
Kristine

Until 20-05-2008 I may only comment!-:)

Hi Tom,
I am away from TE for a few days and you have posted several more photos. You are a photography machine! As I have said before, you do traditional "Americana" better than just about any photographer that I know. You know your subjects very well, do thorough historical reasearch and do fabulous photography. This is a gorgeous shot with beautiful, soft diffused sunlight and the inclusion on the kids in front of this landmark is perfect! Well done!
Stan
