Photographer’s Note

Somesville, Maine, the oldest settlement on Mount Desert Island (dating from 1761), is a picturesque little village located at the northern end of Somes Sound - the only fjord on the east coast of the United States. Somesville is actually not a township at all but part of the municipality of Mount Desert, Maine, whose office is located in Northeast Harbor. There is gorgeous scenery here year round including beautiful views of the Somes Sound, its inlets, and the mountains to the east.

What a pretty shot, Tom!
I love that white arched bridge and its reflection. It looks wonderful in contrast to all the dark green around it and the red tree just adds a MAD dash of color. The composition is great, too, with the bridge leading to the white building. Man, that's a nice shot! Hope you're having a great fall, but I heard about the Nor'Easters... Those aren't good. What a lonely and silent corner, just like the time was stopped at 1960an, good pov to frame the mirror's effect, full in poetic flavour, good shoot.

Hello Tom,
A good capture of this charming bridge accompanied by an equally charming house. The point of view is well chosen to show off both to good effect and encompass the fine reflections. The tree in its autumn colours is a nice bonus.

This is a nice peaceful looking place. The bridge creates a nice line through the shot. The reflection is great providing depth and balance for the scene. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness.

I love your bridge work.
This shot is no exception, the reflection of the building and bridge compliment the structures well.
The spray of autumn colour adds much to the image.

Very appealing shapes and reflections, with white nicely counterbalanced by the lovely autumn red foliage. Delightfully composed to show the bridge's shape offset by the pointy lines of the building. This place looks really pleasant. I like the light glinting on the water, too.

This looks like a really beautiful spot!
You have composed the view well, with the focal house strongly placed in the frame and the bridge, with its reflection, leading between the two sides of the shot.
The autumnal colours on the b/g tree are very eye-catching.
Did you kayak to this spot?

hi Tom,
the white house and white curve of the bridge look really great against the green trees, while the red leaves add just the right accent. I'd probably try a slightly tighter composition to emphasise the symmetry and avoid the brown blob in the lower left corner. not a major point though.

The reflection and the maple make this image in my book. Stunning is the only descriptor that I can think off. Was there a place that afforded a more symmetrical view of the reflections? Well done!
