Photographer’s Note
Cape Neddick Lighthouse is located on Nubble Island, a small outcropping just 600 ft off of Cape Neddick Point in Maine. I wanted to show off the craggy coastline of the island and present the lighthouse as part if the Maine shoreline rather than the feature itself.
As a point of interest, there is wonderfully sweet and fresh lobster to be had at a nearby restaurant that overlooks this view. Save your appetite.

Hi Kathy,
Ohhhh, you make double compositions and focalpoints, that's very interesting. The rocks in front with a nice pattern, than a great wave made with a long exposure so we see the movement is a stunning part in this image, i really love to see that.
And then on top that wonderful lighthouse...very beautiful. You have a great eye for compositions and colour handling. A perfect mix between bright and darker parts, i really like such work were the whole frame is filled with interesting details...very good work..!!!

Kathy,
I like your composition here showing the rushing water in the foreground with the lighthouse and buildings in the back. The angled lighting creates nice warm colors through out the shot.

Hi Kathy:
Ah, this makes me feel like I'm in Nova Scotia. Lovely shot of a lovely place. The exposure is right on, but my favorite thing about this is the exposure of the waves--perfect amount of time. They're absolutely gorgeous. Boy how I wish those power lines weren't there. Great job though.

Beautiful photo all the way. I'm used to seeing your great desert photos, but this is lovely too. Good use of a grad filter to balance the exposure. The amount of blur in the water looks grea too. Colors are soft and elegant. Nice work.

Hello Kathy! I have written this many times before but when we drove along the Maine coast we had nothing but thick fog and whenever I see a Maine coast photo coming up, I think aha, this is how it looks :) We could hardly see the front of our car ... this is how it can be and very often is, and the fog horn goes and goes. You were a lucky girl to see the sun! I really like your approach in this photo with the inclusion of the rocks, the soft touch on the water and further away this beautiful light house. I like the lobster part belonging to the strong memories I have from this area (mostly Nova Scotia). Beautiful work, I enjoy it a lot. Barbara.

Hi Kathy,
I've seen many photos of this lighthouse, perhaps the best known in New England. Most people isolate the lighthouse and the rock promontory it sits on. I think your inventive composition is brilliant in giving us a unique view. The foreground with contrasting darker colors and the wave add much to the beauty of the image. Very very nice! Best wishes,
Hakan

Hi Kathy.
Beautiful shot, and great exposure with tripod and ND filter. I just bought a Cokin P121, which was delivered today! Hope to try it out tomorrow. It worked well here. Nice angles in your shot, and lovely swirls of water. Rich colour and a pleasing light falling on those white buildings. I don't usually like blurred water, but you have got the amount of blurring just right here. Perhaps I would crop a little off the top, that's all.

Andrew

Hello Kathy,
This is a surpassing shot, the granite of the shore, the lighthouse on the promontory, and for highlight, the brilliant red shack in front of the lighthouse. If you don't regard it as meddling, I would like to offer a ws. Given all possibilities, I always prefer an aspect ratio of 800:494 that creates a golden rectangle (1.618:1.00), but sometimes other aspect ratios work better. The present dimensions are 794:539. Try one that is 800:707, closer to a square, "Carper frame."
Warm regards and have a good weekend,
Bulent

Hi Kathy,
A really well composed picture. Excellent clarity and colors. The waves and the the weather make it very exciting. A vertical picture is also a perfect choice. TFS and have nice day!

Hello Kathy,
I think this scene could be found anywhere along the Norwegian coast too, the lighthouses are still there though not operational any more!
A well composed presentation with super details, it is easy to see you had your D50 properly configured, hehehe...
