Photographer’s Note
Old Orchard Beach Maine come July will be elbow to elbow in bikinis and flip flops. Thousands flock to the beach for a refreshing dip in the 60F waters and the kids love the rides in the amusement park. On this mid Feb. day only an occasional dog walker could be found even though the temp was a invigorating 30F with a slight 10 mph breeze.

Awesome!!! I am so happy you posted this shot!! I used to vacation at my great aunt's house down the road from here in Camp Ellis. I recognized this as old orchard beach FROM THE THUMBNAIL!!! Great colors except the sky looks a little TOO dark...and maybe a little over saturated, but that's no biggie...it's so easy to over saturate!!

Hello Tom,
I am not sure what 30F is in Celcius but the day seem pretty. I like the soft texture of the clouds and the intense blue sky. You also have an interesting set of layers beginning with the foamy water, wet sand, dry sand and so on. Excellent perspective and pretty place. Thanks.

It is the bottom left corner that makes this photo. All the rest are just to complement the picture!!! The sky is also very good.

Hi Tom. Great photo. I love the colours you have captured. Well composed also with good diagonal element in the shoreline. Great POV, most look the other way (out to sea). Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

A very appealing picture, Tom, thanks to the colors and your composition. Clever of you to have the foamy wave in the corner, which diverts the attention from the empty beach. Very nice. Regards,
Hakan

Hi dear Tom,
Nice scene but a little bit melancholic ! Anyhow the next summer will come soon and the beach and the playground will be filled by kids.
Dark sky is a good balance and builds a perfect background to the secenery.
Again as allways in your case, perfect pov and perfect notes.

Best regards

Hi Tom,
a very clever capture to include in the left corner the small water-foam, the POV is very good, the small clouds in the sky give a special effect, the side lightness comes very good here.
A beach it has full people, full life on summer and now is empty looks impressive.
Have a nice day.

Hi Tom,
Your note is interesting; it does however take a while for me to decipher all those Fahrenheit and mph conversions! This beach looks beautiful, it is kind of novel to have it all to yourself. I have noticed that there are several seaside amusement parks like this in the US. I like how the Ferris wheel thing adds height to the image and is placed just off centre. The best section of the photo is surely the layering of the wet sand and approaching waves. Perhaps those white and green objects on the sand could be viewed as distractions, so I might have cloned them out. You probably want to leave the photo in the original state, which is OK also. Well done!

Hello Tom,
A good capture of this deserted fairground fronted by the golden sands. I like the inclusion of the bit of sea and the juxtaposition of this as regards the big wheel. Very good sharpness.

You are making big steps now and one photo is better than the other. Here I really like the tiny bit of sea moving in, and it needs a certain "eye" to find these little things that make a picture different from others. Wonderful these special clouds in your winter sky. Not many people around and with temperatures around 30 F I cannot blame them :) This is really nice, well done! Barbara.

Hi Tom
Beautiful shot with these vivids colors and contrast. Good idea include a small part of the waves and the sand, because the sand's color gave an attractive contrast for the picture. Well done, regards, Consuelo

Hello Tom
The colors are vivid and impressive. Softness and details are there at the same time. I like the clouds and the variation of the brown on the beach (the wet sand and the dry sand). Well done!
Best regards
Denis!
