Photographer’s Note

Come July this beach will be wall to wall bikinis and flip flops but today there are no takers. Actually this is not a common scene on Maine's beaches because due to the high tides and salt air the snow does not last long on the beach.

Hello Tom,
A very beautiful seascape with a lovely atmosphere to it. The composition is simple but effective and relies on the ambient light and tonal contrasts. One of my favourites of yours I would say.

Hi Tom,
Simple beach scene. I like the contrast between sea and snowy beach. Low sunlight colours look nice and the sky shows changing weather. I wonder if it's getting cloudy or clearing. I see there's been quite a few visitors there, although not sunbathers!

Well done. Nice light on the FG grasses. There is a calmness in this shot that is created by the horizontal lines of the shore and horizon.

-:))Snow on the beach, no bikinis on the beach! What is better? What is more beautiful?
Both of them are different beautiful, I mean the index of the bikinis.
But this one is for me so unusual view and comes with ideal light so atmospheric, I like the angle-POV you used too.

Hello Tom,

Brrr! It does look cold!
That feeling is created by the grass bravely trying to push its way above the shadowed snow!
Then the footprints act as a good leading line down to the waters edge where the gently colourful sky, still doesn't seem to be reflecting much warmth.
A very beautiful composition!

Beautiful composition, wonderful light... I love the depth and the calm sea and those fantastic snow covered reeds in the foreground. I have visited Old Orchard Beach, but I have never seen it like this. This is an awesome shot! Thanks and have a great weekend,

Hi Tom,
The wonderful colors and framing in your photo make it very deserving of its many favorite designations. The interplay of glowing light and shadows is very dramatic and the excellent detail of the grass adds excellent DOF.

Hello Tom,this is so sharp, it is a beautiful picture.I like your POV.The footprints in the snow provide another texture to balance the grass.The colours are wonderful.
