Lobster fisherman in New England use these floats to relocate traps along the coast. They paint them different colors, mostly bright colors so they can be seen from a long distane or in fog.

I like the idea though in my opinion there are just too many floats there... Some point to orientate at - or a spot of sky - is missing.
