Contrasting from yesterday's pleasure craft is today's hard working boats.
Bass Harbor, Maine, is a perfect example of a quaint little fishing village on what is called the “quiet” or “back” side of Mount Desert Island - home of Acadia National Park. It is located on the southwest section of the island, on the opposite side of an inlet from Bernard. Many people are surprised to hear that Bass Harbor and Bernard are not separate towns at all but are both part of the municipality of Tremont. Bass Harbor is filled with coastal photo opportunities like lobster boats and traps, winding roads, and buildings characteristic of the area. The famous Bass Harbor Head Light is located here on Acadia National Park land. This is one of the most photographed lighthouses in America.
Regular ferry service is available from Bass Harbor to Swans Island and Frenchboro for those wishing to make the trip.

Hi Tom,

nice view of this harbor. I like people that shows where and under which conditions people work.
The yellow roof in the right is a strong contrast to all the other colors in the photo. Did the sky really have this color or did you work on it?
So, these cages are used to catch lobster? How do they work?

Hi Tom

Nice shot. Great colours. Good exposure. I think I would have left out the yellow roof as it draws my eye away from the real subjects. It looks like it may be a restaurant so it does not add to the working theme in my estimation. Hope this helps.

Phil

Hello Tom,
On the whole, a good composition of this fishing port, but I agree with the others that it could be significantly strengthened by excluding the building with the vivid yellow roof.

Excellent and original compo, those lobster tracks look very interesting, with their vivid colors-red, green, blue. Nice colorful scene.

Hi Tom, An amazing view of the boats over looking the lobster traps, the array of colours are brilliant, there is very nice light & the overall composition is perfect, I really like the POV, great shot & TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Tom,
I like your composition here showing the boats and lobster cages. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The corner of the restaurant does not bother me, it gives us an idea of the view the people have while they are there.

Asa

Tom, another great boat shot in your series. Colorful, detailed, composed, very nice.

Hi Tom,
Quite a busy port ... are they cray pots? Judging from number of pots, it must be productive fishing here. Well captured scene and good image quality. Your notes are also well written to describe the place... very intersting. Well done!

Renier

Hola Tom,
Bonita composición con las nasas y sus redes de colores en primer plano, un ambientte muy marinero.
Excelente profundidad y encuadre.

What an interesting colorful copmposition, Tom. A perfect blend of foreground, middleground and background. My eyes browse through all the image and sees everywhere interesting details. I would be probably quite interesting to do a close-up shot of these lobster traps in a tight framing. Even better if there would be a lobster left and lost in this mess.
Regards, Peter

Hi Tom,
Great shot! Love the POV looking past all the stacks of lobster traps towards the harbor filled with the boats. Very colorful. Typical shot for Maine for sure! TFS

Hi Tom
Much visual information in colourful foreground of this busy harbor of Maine.
These traps and anchored boats provide much depth to your take.
A tribute to those hearty fishermen.
Best regards.
Robert

Hello Tom! You have again given up many interesting details to look at from top to bottom. The light seems soft and wonderfully captured. Very well done!

Doug

Hi Tom,
It's a very busy harbour I guess; the whole harbour is full of cages & boats. You have captured nicely the busy harbour along with beautiful green background. TFS.
