Photographer’s Note
"Young man stop that horsing around," quipped this slightly annoyed mom as her 3-year-old finds a happy diversion from the "Cottage Trail." Bar Harbor has a 1 mile paved trail that goes from the downtown harbor past all the 19th century mansion that line the harbor. The wealthy referred to them as cottages although most contained around 30 rooms.
With temps in the high 90's there was a lazy summer day haze that day that had mom at here wits end but our young hero was not slowed down a bit by the untypical heat.

Hi Tom,
A very nice photo. I love the birch tree climbing up the middle of the picture.
Nice colors, the blue of the water and sky, the grey of the house, rocks, path and tree, with a little splatter of green.
With the temperatures we've been having around here I wouldn't mind the 90 degrees summer haze right now!

Hello Tom
I like the tree in the middle hiding the island. The blue sky is charming and fits well with the green grass and the green tree. I went in Bar Harbor in 2005...it is a lovely place.
Best regards
Denis!

Hello Tom,
I was a little rascal just like these little guys were many years ago. I was always into mayhem. I often wonder where all of this energy has gone. I nave been commenting lately about some of the Trek Earth photos which I thought made excellent use of perspective. The converging lines of your dynamic 45 degree foot path, and the shoreline point to the imaginary "vanishing point". Your composition is simple and straight forward and a reminder of the value of simplicity (the KISS formula). It is an overstated theme, but your people gives this photo an excellent sense of scale and the are placed perfectly on the right 1/3 composition line. I also like how the three trees on the left side of the walkway diminish in size to enhance the illusion of depth. Excellent work!

Hi Tom,
Excellent detail and color in well-framed composition; I particularly like the detail of the FG tree bark and the diagonal of the path against the misty ocean. The family group adds human interest.

Hi Tom, I like your composition where the birch tree seems to divide the shot in two.The right hand side full of details and the left hand side almost empty,it works really well. The sun lights up the tree beautifully.
Interesting note which fits the picture well.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hello Tom,
Is there anything more boring in that age than just walking for the sake of walking! I guess about everything is a pleasant diversion from that...
Interesting composition where the birch effectively divide the frame in a seaview and a landview part...

Hi Tom,
The branch of that tree is quite interesting as if it is peeling off. This would have been a refreshing sight in a warm day like this. Good application of the 'rule-of-thirds' here ... I like the way the sky occupied most of the space as it creates an expansive feel. Well captured and composed. Well done! tfs and have a nice weekend.
Cheers,
Renier
