[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The always difficult to photograph Charles Island in Milford, Connecticut, USA. You can actually walk to this island at low tide. The island has an interesting history. A one time hotel, fish oil factory, monastery (or convent, I can never remember), and supposed burial site of Captain Kidd's treasure. The island is strange in that you want to photographs of it, but most photographs of just the island, are just that, plain photos of the island in the middle with water in the foreground and sky up above....not very interesting. It's also tough to get anything in the foreground as most of the coast with a view of the island is straight, and there are fews rocks.

I've titled this "Getting Better..." since really my primary purpose in taking photos this morning was to practice and learn...the bonus happened when more than one photo out of the bunch was good enough to post on TE.

Hi,
I love the composition here and reflections are beautiful! I would suggest to work on the curves to slightly darken the highlights and let the colours stand out a bit more - please see my workshop, very nice photo, well done, regards, Tomasz.

Hi Jeffrey,

Great dimension from your composition .. beautiful reflected sky .. wonderful textures and tone .. beautiful image .. so just to find one horrid critical thing to say about this wonder of yours (and it is a wonder) .. I might back off on the sharpness just a touch .. there are some tiny little stones (I think) in the foreground that are distracting me just a little due to their sharpness .. wondrous image ..

take care,

John

Hello,
A very nice photo. I made some changes. See workshop.

The calm water has given you great relections and the rocks make for an interesting FG and leading line to the island. You are right the island is not that picturesque from this POV and using the wide angle makes it seem farther away but I like this shot a lot.

Really beautiful! Regards, Doug
