Photographer’s Note
I guess strictly speaking I shouldn't post this because I didn't take the picture; my father did over 65 years ago. Almost certainly this picture as taken in 1937 or 1938 at the Bond Hotel in Hartford, Connecticut. I post it partly because I think it is an interesting glimpse at a different time. Mainly, though, I have been thinking of how much my father would have loved participating in TrekEarth. When he was an enthusiastic teenager, he would have loved to have a world wide audience. If he was alive today, he would have loved to be sharing (and arguing about) pictures from around the world. So I tip my hat to my dad and all those who came before. May all of us, from enthusiastic teenager to cantankeruos oldster, continue to connect not only with different places, but different times.

Daniel, thank you for sharing this beauty with us. With the type of equipments available at that time, this is a gem of a shot. The lighting, exposures are immaculate. Would like to thank both the father and the son, for capturing and sharing this

Hello Daniel
First of all, my regards to both you and your father for bringing us such a nice photo.
Strictly speaking it's not 100% legal to add other peoples photos, but this is a big exceptance.
It brings us such a lovely "blast from the past" of what things were back in those days.
As for the photo.
Magnificent detail, light conditions seems to ahve been optimal. I can just imagine that stage light on the whte glittering dresses.
To tell the truth this woulden't have looked close to as beautiful as it would have had it been in colour.
In addition to the lovely view this photo also brings me some idea of how things must have been back in those days when my Grandfathers sister travelled from Norway to the US and setteled down back in the 1920's.
Thank you ever so much for sharing.
Once again my respects to your father.

Technically speaking this photo is wonderful and should be posted as part of history that paved the way to the present culture, geography and society that exists in this part of the world today. Beautiful B&W photo with great clarity and lighting.
