The Location

North pierhead at 5th Avenue Beach in Manistee, Manistee County, Michigan.

The Image

Having finished for the evening I had already stowed my gear in the trunk of my car and was flicking through images from the day. I saw this color developing and the boat returning from an evening fishing and decided to have a go at a few more images. I'm rather fond of the blue color cast you get at these hours of twilight. It's always good to have one last look before heading home I'd say.

No filters? ISO-400? Wide aperture? Beanbag instead of a tripod? Who is this guy?!?!?!

Cheers!

Bob G.

Bob

A really nice image. I like the soft blue tone and the composition with the little boat heading into the mouth of the harbour. The fence on the beach gives added interest to the foreground. Terrific.

Hi bob a very nice compo!
the exposure is perfect, very nice colours and a nice perspective with the light house. adding the bout was a great idea
excellent job
cheers

You got here excellent colours and quite a lot of detail as, for example, the light on the lighthouse and the little light on the boat. Just a small flaw as the horizon is tilted to the left. Anyway, it is a very nice picture.

Bob, this is a picture perfect image, an advertisement for this lighthouse. I'm speechless, but to admire your ability and patience to capture such image and you seem to handle and process each image with special attention, and it shows in your photos. This one is stunning with the evening light and colors. All elements is perfect place to make it a composition of example. Thanks

Hello Bob,

Une vue prise au moment idéal sur ce phare. J'aime beaucoup le coup de lumière qui apporte un super point d'interêt. L'exposition est parfaite également car elle met bien en valeur la couleur du ciel et de la plage !
Bravo !

Hi Bob,
Yep, the landscaper strikes again ;-)
Strong composed image Bob, especially the timing on the light is truly wonderful. But the foreground with the poles in the sand create also a very nice extra, just as the boat on the right. Maybe i like this one even more than your sunset from the same location. The purple/blue toning is very beautiful, great mood...i like it a lot.
There is however a very small tilt on the horizon, not bad, but it's there.
Regards, Henk

Hi Bob,

simply beautiful atmosphere, really...

Take care, Ivana

Hi Bob,

Man that fence is making my eyes hurt. Nice light throughout. Not sokeen on the tiny bit of lense flare just under the light, but hey, thats unavoidable really.
