A Little Late for the Picnic
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
No matter how fast he skis into this grove, he won't find the grill fired up and the burgers sizzling on this next-to-last day of the year at our local nature preserve. The picnic table benches are undisturbed from last night's snowfall, but -- lucky for him! -- there is hot chocolate back at the nature center headquarters.
On the technical side, I did a manual white balance on the snow, and an 0.67 exposure compensation to bring out the snow in this scene accurately.
Thanks to Tom "Gunbud" O'Donnell for his post today --the impetus to finally post this one, which I'd been thinking about for awhile. |

Hi,Jim,
He-he, yes, it's a bit late, or too early for a picnic:)
I like you've managed to include a human figure. It gives some life to this very pleasant wintery shot.

Hi Jim,
I see you have spent another day in the woods shooting winter's eden. The red wood picnic bench adds wounderful relief to this winter wonderland and the the inclusion of the skiier adds a lovely human touch to this composition.

Hello Jim,
The empty snowy benches convey a feeling of sadnesss, of something lacking!
But then my eyes go to the skier and I'm pretty sure he is having a fine time and I realize this is not about something lost, just about a change of season...
Greetings,
