[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A few hardscrabble farms survive on the rugged terrain of Slab City, just south of Bonduel, Wis.

Just down the hill from here, the remnants of an old lime kiln remain, and from this, apparently, the local name derives. Oldtimers among the locals can recall when the kiln was a going concern.

Although "city" seems more than a little pretentious when you see the place today, the community here once had not just the kiln, but also a gravel pit, Frieden's Ev. Church, four taverns, a cemetery and even a house of ill repute, according to Anne, the keeper of the Shawano Gen Web Project. Anne even has a vintage picture from the Slab City Night Club, circa 1897, on her page.

Hi Jim,

great landscape you get here. It's a simple combination of green grass, sinuous hill and a beautiful blue sky but very effective in its purpose. POV is perfect and well balanced. The inclusion of the granary, the little cows and the tree on the very right side just added to the composition. Great job!
Regards,
Carlos

Hi Jim, this area looks like good farm as well as grazing land

Like that big Wisconsin Sky,we need some of that deep blue in

our neck of the woods.

Nice presentation of a mid-western farming landscape. Just as I remember them. Regards. Latiff.

Hello Jim
What catches my eye first is the lovely undulation of the landcsape. The farm on the left & the tree on the right balances each other well. Also love the grazing cows that appear as specs, showing the scale of the frame. A very good shot Jim
Regards
Angshu
PS : Tilt on the left on the granary can be corrected in PS...a minor work!

Hi Jim,
Excellent capture of this rolling hillside with the beautiful blue sky dominating the background as the barn and cows making a soothing color contrast and serene landscape.
Regards, Tom
