Photographer’s Note
When I moved to the Fox Cities of Wisconsin nearly 15 years ago, I remember reading in Sports Illustrated that Appleton was "a city of parks." Today, it is even more so.
This morning I saw ducks and geese reposing in the warming rays of a slow-rising sun at Vulcan Park, one of the city's newest.
The old city grew up near here, hard by the paper mills, not far from Lawrence College, the impetus for Appleton's founding. This park remembers the heritage, its dam a visual reminder, too.
But the atmosphere today, in scenes such as this, shows that even on a working river, we can enjoy nature's beauty.

Hi Jim,
interesting scene of birds on the river and good lightning control too. Great job and greetings from Brazil.

Yes nature indeed has a way of surviving despite all that we throw at her. We can see the air is also thick there, hopefully from humidity instead of smog.
Very nice composition there, the light of dawn always has a soft quality well worth taking a stroll to grab a few snapshots ;)
