Photographer’s Note

A maple in various stages of turning graces a home in one of Appleton's older neighborhoods. The home is of a style not so commonly seen these days, but still very prevalent in my childhood. All of the homes nearby have classic designs, hearkening back to an era when form was often as important as function, or very nearly so, especially in upscale parts of town such as this.

I was drawn to the rich blue sky here and the echo of colors in the children's play equipment on the lawn.

Only PP is cropping and one pass of The Gimp's Smart Redux sharpening plug-in. While shooting, I spot metered on the red maple leaves, hoping to show them off to as much advantage as possible.
