Photographer’s Note
A maple in various stages of turning graces a home in one of Appleton's older neighborhoods. The home is of a style not so commonly seen these days, but still very prevalent in my childhood. All of the homes nearby have classic designs, hearkening back to an era when form was often as important as function, or very nearly so, especially in upscale parts of town such as this.
I was drawn to the rich blue sky here and the echo of colors in the children's play equipment on the lawn.
Only PP is cropping and one pass of The Gimp's Smart Redux sharpening plug-in. While shooting, I spot metered on the red maple leaves, hoping to show them off to as much advantage as possible.

Hi Jim,
We've got opposite season ... we're now summer here in NZ. I always like the vibrant colors of autumn ... as if nature wanted to leave the best of its color to last. This is a beautiful tree and it does compliment the house too. Well captured and composed. Well done! tfs

I think that the colors in the picture are very sharp. I like the detail that is shown and it looks very cozy. I like the angle, it shows how large a tree can acutally be. Good job.

Hi Jim,
The vibrant blue sky makes the perfect backdrop to this lovely autumn scene. The big maple's red leafs contrast beautifully with the wonderfully designed home and the colorful swing set adding bright color. Very clear crisp colors with excellent details and sharpness to this lovely autumn landscape.

Hello Jim,
What brilliant fall colors in this image of Appleton. The steep roof of this house must have been necessary for the abundant snows the region sees in the winter. An excellent photograph, and an informative note.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Jim,
Beautiful photo of this gorgeous maple tree and this older, but sturdy home. Colorado has beautiful scenery, but we simply don't get the brilliant autumn colors that you do. I imagine the your upstate woodlands are quite a spectacle in October! I think of Old Americana and apple pie when I view this beautiful image of yours!
