A gorgoeus sunrise/sunset(take your pick) photo. I don't think that this photo is a cliche. Even if it was, who cares? As the British would say: "It is bloody marvelous!".

Hello John,

A spectacular sunset with a sensational note. Only the connoisseur in music and photography would annotate his photo with an appropriate quote from Hovhaness. A piece by this composer would be appropriate as an accompaniment to viewing this shot. It reminds me of a cruise in 1994 that we took up the Norwegian coast, the magical Fjord country. We were in the theater in the evening (still bright with the Northern sun), when the curtains were opened, and the classical pianist played Grieg. Some music has to be heard in the righ setting, and some scenery has to be accompanied by the right music!

Hi John,

they say sunsets are boring but this is wonderful. The sky has so much texture and the tones are golden. The sun is sufficiently blocked to prevent it being too bright and the reflections just add to the atmosphere. A really peaceful scene my friend, well done.

Although many people have written about the beauty of this "sunset", I see from the note that this is actually the sunrise. I have never been up early enough to see one myself, so I am very happy to view yours in the meantime. :-) This is an inspiring and gorgeous capture. The colors are fabulous, and the patterns of the clouds are just as beautiful.

Oh John, sunrise is so much more perfect than sunset. The quiet of the early morning inspires a contemplative mood. The splendid soaring sound gives some sense of your feelings as you view the sunrise. To hear this music when your child is born is beyond words. HLJ, Pat

Simple ans sweet. You were in the right place at the right time but you still had to press the button. Spot on exposure. Nothing too creative which I think is a strong point here. Just a simple, very well taken, clean image with plenty of impact. I'm glad you decided to share it with us.

Hi John,
Wonderful golden morning you have caught in this photo. I love the cloud pattern and the strong gold streaming into the lake. I wonder why sunrises are usually golden and sunsets more often red and pink?
