Photographer’s Note

If something I really like from North America State and National Parks, it is what a wonderful wildlife lives in.

This is a pronghorn I found close to the Wildlife Loop Road in the Custer State Park in South Dakota.

The Pronghorn (Antilocapra americana), is a species of ungulate mammal native to interior western and central North America. Though not a true antelope, it is often known colloquially as the Prong Buck or Pronghorn Antelope, as it closely resembles the true antelopes of the Old World and fills a similar ecological niche due to convergent evolution. It is the only surviving member of the family Antilocapridae.

See a close-up in my TN gallery.
