An interesting and beautiful picture!
An a bit mysterious view caused by the only "hinted" background. Hoarfrost is a most beautiful decoration in nature. A not everyday's photo!

Hi John,
Very mysterious view of the Big Muddy with lovely snow and ice clinging to the dorment grass and tree with a pretty bit of blue from the frigid waters belows. Reminds me of William Least Heat Moon's "River Hawk " with all the challenges of this difficult river to navigate.

Happy New Year John -

I like the rime coving the grass and tree, but the fog seems to be counter acting or down playing the effect of the rime which is really too bad. I think if you had captured this on a bright blue crisp morning it would have more impact.

John, this is pure magic!! The icey tree and grass against the misty turquoise water; I'm not sure how you got such good color here. Most the shots I try of such scenes might as well be B&W. I also like the vertical framing with the tall tree and the sloping bank.

what a tranquil mood and freezing too :-))
the composition seems perfect with the little detail that I think that the object in the left portion covered by the fog is distractive. Thise are the moments that I do some minimal intervention in photoshop. Cloning and cleaning would have given a more pristine look.
How are you doing? Not a lot from you lately. Hope you're doing fine.

Hello John,
first, you made me laugh with your ws!! The eagles laughing at you because of your lenses!! You could have used their eyes to get a better magnification, don't you think?
This shot is very quiet, relaxing. Everything is cool, relaxed and mysterious. I like the huge amount of sky you left at the top. It does all the work in this picture.

Hi John,
Very, very beautiful! In front of images like this one, I almost begin liking Winter. The frozen tree was enough for making it a great photo, but there is also the vision of the lake bellow and the mist, which intensify the a peaceful mood.

Hello John,

A very successful hand-held shot. Years ago, while shooting with a Nikon-F, I could use a Questar telescope for 1600-mm (actually the equivalent of a 2400 mm lens). They were sensational for wild-life photos. A double-exposure (not a product of Photoshop) is one that I used the Questar in conjunction with a 135-mm lens to capture Bubble About to Burst. That would be way to get photos of the eagles. Does your physics or astronomy department have a Questar 3 1/2 or 7" telescope?

An amazing compo. with fog & frost...with the BG almost lost in fog, yet we see some details. The tree in the FG covered with frost is the icing really, holding the compo. A beautiful winter scene well captured.
