I wanted to put a picture from my home state. These little guys are found all over on the prairies in South Dakota and the Great Plains. They live in burrows called towns. Prairie Dogs possess one the most sophisticated of all natural animal languages. They apparently issue different sounds identifying various predators. There is usually one praire dog in the town that acts as the lookout and alerts the others. This photo was taken just after one of these alerts.
Interesting fact: In 1900, a huge Prairie Dog settlement, 100 miles by 250 miles, was found containing an estimated 400 million Prairie Dogs!
Photo was scanned, cropped a bit and levels adjusted. |

I like the colors in your picture. The problem is that the focus and sharpness are not very good. Your note is excellent though!
Good subject Michele, it's nice to see all those prairie dog. Like Chritos said, the focus is not well done.
Are'nt you scared of these Michele? There are very cute.I will take your photo to my shop an try to correct that focus/sharpening problem, be back later...Gaétan
Prairie dog are facinating animal to see in North America... I like this picture presenting your view of your home state... Yes, they could be more sharpened but I like very much the way of framing with the wood wheel and your very intersting note. Thanks also for your critique on my picture!
