James River in Magenta

For all of you wishing for some more color from me : )

A follow up post to my last image - James River in White

A dawn image of he same location during the spring flood of last year.

Ruthlessly copied from the previous post:

A river of many names .. Etazipokase Wakpa in (I believe) Lakota (Sioux) .. literally translates as the "unnavigable river" ... which is very accurate .. this is the longest unnavigable river in the world.

The river was named the James river (also called the Jim river) by a railroad worker. It was later officially changed to the Dakota river .. but not officially enough to take over local parlance .. or any maps I have seen ...

The state of South Dakota is divided into several geographic regions .. The state is bisected by the Missouri river .. on the far west edge of the state are the Black Hills (a smaller but beautiful prelude to the Rocky Mountains further West) .. the rest of "West River" is mostly arid ranch land, badlands, and large the large reservations of the Sioux. "East River" is gradually drying end of the rich wet farmland of Iowa and southern Minnesota.

Hi John,

your work was succesful (capture and post-production). Yes, I like the magenta tones on this one. Much different than the other post but both are really good work. The dry trees and the reflection worked perfectly together. The view brings some kind of tranquil feeling. I like this a lot. Well done!
Regards,
Carlos

This is wonderful, John.
I love those color tones and it is such a shocking contrast to the same scene in frozen white. Beautiful. The bare trees make great silhouettes before that soft light in the BG. Really lovely shot! Thanks and have a great weekend,
Shelly

Hallo John!
What a wonderful atmosphere - somehow solemn. One nearly does not dare to breath in order to not disturb this moment. A most beautiful scenery - and photo!
Have a nice weekend!

Hi John, if I am in a such region with so nice light-color I can be very calm and happy. -:)
The reflections of the trees are superb clear.
Cheers

An interesting pattern you have going on here, John, showing us the tonality of the James River in its seasons. How lovely is a river! I like the clear, crisp nature of this image, the lighting, and the reflections in the water. Wish only that you had the full symmetry of the trees in the reflections, rather than the slightly too tight crop at bottom. Nice job here, though, in any case.

Wonderful view down this flooded river that catches these very pleasant colors reflecting in its calm slow moving current. The island creates excellent defintion to this wild landscape full of calm mysterious color.

Bonjour John,

Hello John,
a very exciting capture of the river. Excellent reflections and great colours. I like the way the rivewr is divided by the row of trees. The leafless trees also give a very powerful impact to the composition of the shot.
Brilliant photo I like it very much.

Foozi
