Photographer’s Note
VECTREN DAYTON AIR SHOW, July 29, 2006
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was a twin-boom fighter that made news in the Pacific theater during WW 2. Kelly Johnson, the famous aviation designer who later designed the U-2, SR-71 and the F-104 StarFighter was instrumental in the development of this fighter.
The General Dynamics F-16 is one of the world's best fighters today.
At the Dayton Airshow, there was a segment dedicated to the fallen heroes and this heritage flight of the old and the new symoblized all those who gave their lives for the defense of the USA.
The weather was a steamy 92F with a lot of haze and humidity and you can see a bit of it on the F-16's tail.

Hello Anand,
Great shot, I really like the contrast between the classic P-38 and the new F-16. Very nice composition and detail. I really like the work you did with this image. TFS.

Anand,
I don't know how you managed to capture this shot but I do know it wasn't easy. Well done capturing the two eras. Nice positioning and framing.
