Photographer’s Note
Some may already know that I am a fan of old buildings, so this one was a "must stop" as we travelled south along Hwy #85 in western North Dakota. I actually walked right up close after taking this image and gave a gently push on the corner of this old house thinking it may well topple before my very eyes. To my surprise, it was still remarkable sturdy so who knows, it may weather a few more years before it collapses. Again I am wondering what stories this old house could share if only it could speak?

Salut Gerald!
Emilius

A very good and definitive photo. The left outside diagonal of the house is just on the center of gravity of the old structure. Maybe one more heavy snowfall could bring it down.

Hi Gerald!
Just decided to have a quick look, to see if you uploaded a new pic. I had to comment...this one is a winner. The old wooden houses don't come any more contorted then this one, I am pretty sure! Good eye, and a nice clear job! cheers,
Steve

Hello Gerald,
at first I wondered whether this is a PS fabrication but I believe you it isn't. An eye catching view brought very simply but convincingly.

Hi, Gerald -
Incredible building! It feels like it's leaning into the wind, and I can feel my legs bracing themselves in sympathy just looking at this. A really good mix of minimalist elements here.
Best,

Hi Gerald,
Amazing capture! Looks like the image is skewed or something.
The old wooden house is really holding it together for some more years maybe.
Wonderful shot.

Hi Gerald
Good catch. The weird thing is about perspective: the top of the window roof is still horizontal...

Hi Gerald!
There must have been a fierce wind blowing to give this result!!! Very impressive photo, it really seems that this building is struggling, is fighting to stay "alive"! Congratulations!

Hello Gerald! Like the Tower of Pisa :))) It has seen many storms over all these years but still seems to hold in this position. I would have liked to touch it myself and try if it holds. Yes, this house HAS stories, I am sure, but sometimes it is nice to make your own thoughts, write stories in your mind, use your imagination. Great photo, you have found a treasure in the middle of the North Dakota prairies. I am looking forward to see more .... Barbara.

Hello Gerald,
What an amazing subject!
This house in the middle of the vast plainlands is truly an amazing sight, it is also a small wonder it is still standing somehow...
Well framed and good details, well observed!

Gosh! It seems to be defying gravity. What makes it all the more amazing is the fact the roofs on the windows are still perfectly horizontal. It's like the nursery rhyme about the "Crooked House". Well spotted

Hello Gerald,
Very good view of fantastically slided but still alive wooden house. Its wooden textures are amazing in your perfectly captured photo. Powerful lights and clear blue sky is noticeable too. Incredible balance related with gravity is speechless. Congratulations.

Hi, Gerald.
This stunning old house is sure putting up a hell of a fight to survive! Great minimal shot, perfect presentation, and I just LOVE the feeling of loneliness and emptiness that permeates the scene. The Plains at their undisputed best, TFS! Have a good day, see ya soon.

Hi Gerald,
Great shot of this old home stubbornly standing despite the constant parire winds.
The clear blue sky makes an excellent backdrop for this image of great clarity and sharpness.
Looks like this is the western wall in the sadows with an uncommon strong eatern wind might hasten its demise.

Hello Gerald!
Fantastic picture, I really like this one very much :) The house already looks amazing, but I also like the colors, the contrast, your point of view and the way you composed the picture very much! You also did well in giving the sky about 2/3 of the picture.....very well done!

G'day Gerald!
Another 'classic' barn shot from the 'barn-shooter extraordinaire'!! If I didn't know you better, I'd say you'd used a bit of 'lens distortion' effects in PS!! A great take on a very fascinating piece of 'architecture' - well done!

Hi Gerald:
I love old houses as well, and you have some of the best shots of them on this site. But I don't think I've seen anyone who has these cool shots of warped buildings. So sad--it looked like it was once a beautiful house. That's one area where I wish North America was more like Europe, the preservation of old buildings. The fact that we're tearing down Yankee Stadium, among others, is quite sad to me. Anyway, nice sunset light. Fits well with this house being in its sunset years.

Hi Gerald
Smehow I missed this shot before. What a great shot. If I didn't know better I'd have thought the distortion filter had been applied. There is a sort of flow to this old building;))
Wishing you a very merry Christmas.

Hi Gerald
Thanks for your critic.
This one look unreal, it look like the house on winnie the pooh when the butterfly land on... and destruct it only by his own weight. And this one look ready to fall.
The colors are excellents and warm.
Sincerely a spot where i can stop a long time to make pictures.
Have a good day

looks like this house feels just fine, it simply wanted to sit more comfortably :) amazing how the construction is still holding, just few planks out of place. the clear blue sky int he background and simple composition work well to focus viewer's attention on the leaning building, and I agree that it would be great to teach such houses talk - imagine the stories!
best,

hi Gerald
what's this!? the leaning pisa tower of the US?? :)) quite a charmer; interesting how this old fellow has aged and how the roof-top window frames are still perpendicular to the ground despite the whole house sitting at 45 degree angle.
thanks for sharing

Hello Gerald
well your fascination with old buildings is a cool thing as it allows me to gaze of them and imagine their grandiose surroundings. This composiution is no exception and though apparently simple it is subtle and mastrefully achieved.
Congratulations

You have a incredible country landscapes gallery, all pictures full of colours and good taste.
I had to stop in this one to say it is one of the best North American land country photograph I have ever seen, really good, the old amazing farm warping it self by the past of the age.
Best regards Gerald.

Hello Gerald,
As with everyone else an amazing image. The builders must have had a secret design for it to survive such a severe angle?
Thanks for sharing,
Ray
