Photographer’s Note
....."California Joe"....
Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE, USA
Moses Milner, nicknamed "California Joe", who left Kentucky
at age 14 and spent his first winter learning to hunt and trap
on the North Platte River. In 1848 he built a cabin on Brady
Island and traded with friendly Native Americans on the Loup,
Dismal, Platte, and Republican Rivers. He fought in the
Mexican War, was with Kit Carson at Adobe Wells, and
scouted for Generals Crook and Custer. In 1876 he was shot
in the back by an unknown assailant and was buried at
Fort Robinson and later mover to Fort McPherson National
Cemetery.

Hello, Larry.
A beautifully clear and sharp picture of this piece of American history. Lovely colours too.
I like your excellent note too - it's very interesting to me to learn of history from other parts of the World.

Larry,
This is a nicely composed photo using the grave stones to create lines and angles through the shot. A higher f-stop (around f/11) would have given a better DOF placing more of the shot in sharp focus. The lighting and colors are great!

Hi,Larry,
It's an unusual shot, if asking me. It does seem to be connected with a special person. Thank to your note, one gets the right information.
I agree with your implied idea that only dishonest people shot in the back.
It's interesting to know that the event described happened in 1876, a year when my country was just two years before its Liberation and that was the year of April upsurge.

Hi Larry,
Technical quality of your image is good but on the whole it looks a bit dead... the subject maybe ;-)
Have a nice day JY

hi Larry, grass and stones colors create really nice composition here.. Since I always look for best solution let me write what I could alternately change. I would focus more on the first gravestone, to make it REALLY sharp.. I'd also get rid of the sky and crop the image with bricks only -- that could adjust the overall composition. Thanks also for a description.
good luck!
