Gene Leahy at Christmas
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A shot from Gene Leahy Mall in downtown Omaha looking back towards the downtown skyline. Every year they line this area with all sorts of Christmas lights that stay on from Thanksgiving until about the first weekend in January.
I hope your holidays were great and your new year has lots to look forward to! |

Hello Derrick,
Good work on getting the right exposure with this nighttime photo. It is always a challenge taking night images. I feel that your photo would have been stronger by cropping some of the black space in the foreground and making it more of a panoramic format, in my opinion. I especially like the way that the floodlights shine on the two adjacent buildings at different angles. Nice work and keep on experimenting with this skyline.

Great view of those symmetric buildings beautifully lit and the trees, as if covered with shiny cobwebs!
Though it could have been shot vertically, that way there would be more of that building in the background going up and less of distractions on the sides and bottom. It's of course hard to decide upon perspective, crop all correctly during shooting, should take several of them whenever possible!
And thanks for the comment on that church picture, by the way, I've made a horizontal shot of it as well ;), didn't work that well. And the colour was improved using several tools combined: levels, curves, saturation..
