Photographer's Note

...."Misty Morning"....

This image was taken 40 minutes after and eight
miles west of ...."Western Heritage I"....(in my
gallery). We knew this old farmstead was along
the old gravel road and almost hidden by trees
and the heavy mist. There
is a wonderful old abandon home, windmill and
barn also on this old farmstead. Material for
another time, I think.

This old building is an old Grainary for Ear Corn.
If you look closely you will see the sides have open
areas between each piece of siding lumber. Ear
corn was stored on each side of the alley way
and air than moved through the building using
nature to dry the corn. Hay was usually stored
in the top of the build and machinery in the alley
way when corn was not being loaded or unloaded.

The very quite, tranquil mood of the moment was
as amazing as the image suggest.

window of the pickup, in an attempt to keep the
camera as dry as possible.

Larry, this is a good one, it has feel. The color and detail are fine and the pov is fine but you have done a great job handling the mist which could have softened it too much. Well seen and captured.

Hello Larry,a well managed shot of the farm building.I can almost see the mist swirling about!
These farms offer such great photo opportunities, and you made the most of it here.
We can still see the details through the mist.

I will have to get a bean bag!

I like foggy days although I never tried to take photos of fog.

Hello Larry,

When I see fog than taking I my camera, and look for in the forest to lovely images, preferably with morning sunshine.
I remember this type barn, of my uncle in Canada during the years 1950, his was a farmer.
Lovely colours and the fog gives an atmosphere very particular to this photo.
Composition and presentation are very well. TFS.

Fog always gives a sense of mystery especially early morning or evening and to capture the spirit of scenery is not easy task.

When you find an old house like this, the mood is much enhanced by the fog and it becomes even more mysterious.

Hi Larry,
Soft pleasant and natural colors. Very nice foggy atmosphere. I have a few more misty or foggy morning photos to post. Sometime I have a dilemma whether I should do any sharpening or noise reduction at all because they end to take away some of the atmosphere I think. No I'm not suggesting it's happening to your photo ... just reflecting on my own experience with PP. I like the color of the brown grass contrasting with the green. Interesting subject ... always like to see photos of abandoned barn. Regards. Latiff.

Hello Larry,

I guess the mist and fog is as much a sign of autumn as the shining colours!
I notice this actually is late summer but for sure we will see this repeatedly in the weeks to come, for instance this morning in my place...
A well composed presentation with a fine atmosphere!
