Photographer's Note
...."Ranch Hands Old Home"....
This ...."Ranch Hands Old Home".... is located 28 miles
northwest of our home and is on the leading edge of the
Sandhills. It is also located 10 east of ...."Sandhills
Ranch..Early Morning".... in my gallery.
The Ranch Headquarters is North of here about 1/2 mile.
It was not unusual for Ranchers to provide housing for there
better and long time employees.
This old home, however, has not been lived in since the
mid 1950's according to the type of electric wiring and
telephone wire going into the house. You can see that
the front porch has recently fallen and is still leaning
against the front of the old home. In the back you will
see the old windmill used to supply water to the home
and the cattle. The heating stove was centrally located
and rooms built around the stove to utilize the heat as
best as possible and the kitchen would have been in the
back right part of the house.

Thanks to everyone for looking in.

Hi Larry, a very high quality BW shot. the height of thegrass around the house shows that it hasnt been tended to for a long time and teh house is slowly dilapidating with time. I was wondering why they have that wind fan there?...TFS, Alex

Hello Larry,
When I read your note, than was in Belgium short after the WAR II, middle of the years 50, all farms with same system, no electricity, or alone with a wind mill, also the farm of my parents. On May 15 1953 got we the first tiome electricity of the plant.
You took this picture in black and white, perhaps get we on this manner again the feeling out of this time.
So we see America on an othr manner with the old farm as subject. Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Larry,
Very nice image with this rustic charming barn, at least B&W and border gives it that rustic feel. Very nicely presented of this down home charm. Very good details on the texture of the building and the surround dry weeds. Good composition, good light and contrast. Well done, Thank Larry.

Hi Larry
A superb b&w of the old ranch building with a good tonal range & excellent sharpness & contrast. Well composed using the rule of thirds. Tfs!

Hi Larry. Your attendance with the U of Photography have made you a much better photographer. The framing of this architecture is very good from low angle. The b&w has good contrast and saturation giving the mood from the gray sky. Well done and thanks for sharing. Best regards. Jusni

Bonjour Larry,
un b&w qui enlève toute trace de modernité.
Une maison bien isolée, semblant typique de ces terres peu peuplées.
C'est bien cadré, très simple aussi.
Regards.
Daniel.

Hello Larry,
Once a nice house now falling apart!
Since the need for farmhands has been reduced by the machines the need for housing also diminish and due to location the house found no other use...
B&W work well with this kind of subject, good sharpness in details and I notice the windmill is still erect!
Greetings,

hi Larry
The old house looks interesting with the B&W to show the age period but its outlook really is showing signs of collapse.

Good morning Larry,
The grey tone enhances your presentation of the abandoned ranch house. Superbly framed, the grasses on the f/g drapes the house well. The contrast is effective. Best regards...Danilo

hello Larry,
I love this old homestead house with the windmill out back. Folks were hardy on those days!
The image works so well in B/W with wonderful tones.
Good job!

Larry,
Doubtless a good decision to show this one in black and white - although there's probably good colour images to be had here too - light allowing.
The jigsaw puzzle remant of a chimney is certainly a stand out feature and, thanks for noting the collapsed porch which could be easily missed.
The "damamged" framing also adds to this one's historic feel.
Regards
colin
