Nice photo. Your efforts were paid back. The thunder must have been close. I wonder if it left a whole in the ground. lol

Very good lightning photo - it's close enough, bright and clear. Also very good exposure control - the sky is not totally dark but not over-exposed either.
I have tried to take some lightning photos, but all the time lightnings were too far and hardly visible in the photo.

0,5 sec for this photo and you catch the lightning.Wow! In my country says more lucky then brains and I didnt mean something bad.

Nice job. I have a similar photo you should check out. You may try using a tripod with a remote and setting the shutter to bulb. Take a guess at when lightning may hit and before it does hit the bulb then leave it on for a bit. It works pretty well.
