"Carhenge"

Thirty-eight automobiles were placed to assume the same proportions as Stonehenge with the circle measuring approximately 96 feet in diameter. Some autos are held upright in pits five feet deep, trunk end down, while those cars which are placed to form the arches have been welded in place. All are covered with gray spray paint. The honor of depicting the heel stone goes to a 1962 Caddy.

Carhenge was erected in the middle of a dusty field by six local families during a reunion in 1987. The cars have since been painted a uniform grey to make the monument even more striking. The artist of this unique car sculpture, Jim Reinders, experimented with unusual and interesting artistic creations throughout his life. While living in England, he had the opportunity to study the design and purpose of Stonehenge. His desire to copy Stonehenge in physical size and placement came to fruition in the summer of 1987 with the help of many family members.

Taken early morning with full polarisation to bring a dramatic effect to the whole scene.
Ofcourse the Fuji Velvia 50 did the rest.

Any comment is more than welcome..!!

Bonjour Henk,
l'orignalité conjuguée à le perfection technique.
Voilà mon impression sur cette photo très dans l'esprit TE.
J ne vais pas en énumérer les qualités, elles sautent aux yeux.
Bien vu et capturé.
Daniel.

Hi Henk,
Nice to know about Carhenge. Thanks for sharing!
The elements in the scene are striking together: the flowers in the foreground, the pockets of grass, the sky recessing down to the horizon line, and in the middle of all this, cars spraypainted gray stuck in the ground or floating on top of other cars...

Hi Henk
This is so weird but excellent at the same time. Your POV renders the Carhenge very dynamic and I really like the sky and the vivid yellow flowers. Those tufts of grass are interesting too.

Very good Henk..I think that the polarizer is really good there..It makes the colors and the sky better.
The yellow flowers on the left part are really good and give a nice and natural framing.
well done.

Jeetje Henk,
Toen ik de thumbnail zag dacht ik dat lijkt wel een schilderij van Carel Willink.
Die diepte, contrast, kleuren en lucht zijn prachtig!

Dank je wel
An

Hi Henk

This is an interesting shote, a little bit a modern Stonehedge.
I can see how much you like colors, and your portolio looks really as a professional photographer.

Hi Henk!
Very humorous, artistic and original creation!
Do you mind if I add it to Adores's theme: Cromlechs and dolmens! I'll ask her if she agrees.
Cheers!
Marie Louise.

Hi Henk,
just a bit browsing and finding this, the right thing for the evening. Fine art and good capture of that. Good POV and well included flowers, without reading the note the impression appeared fast, faster than reading the title.

Hello Henk -

I have not been here yet even though it is just a few hours up the freeway. I have this thing about Nebraska - my dad was from there and never returned - I guess it is imprinted in my genes. Excellent composition, low to the ground, with the sunflowers in the FG. Velvia does it's magic again!

Thank you for sharing.

;o)

"there's a place where a kid without a cent
he can grow up to be president.
a magic kingdom filled with barbie dolls
if you've got the time we can make it a good time.

americanos - blue jeans and chinos
coke pepsi and oreos - americanos ...
movies and heroes in the land of the free
you can be what you wanna be."

visually atractive composition in the 'land of the free' where pretty yellow flowers (my favourites) surround an intriguing "car-scape" and the whole place shows an intriguing resemblence to stonehenge (is this already a place of pilgrimage just as stonehenge? ;o)
... strange sight indeed ;o) - but the artist did well, so did the photographer and last but not least - fuji velvia - well done!
