Photographer’s Note
This star is the one the city of University City in Missouri (just outside St. Louis) put in the St. Louis Walk of Fame for a blues singer named Fontella Bass. It is in the doorway for a bar/restaurant called Cicero's in the Delmar Loop. I thought the doorway made for a rather moody shot with the added interest of the star. Or perhaps the star was shot in a moody setting with the added interest of the local free rag paper stand and stomped out cigarette butts in the spotlight of the doorway, just around the corner from the bouncer's chair. Heck I don't know, it just looked like a cool shot, so I took it and after I post processed it I still liked it and then when I looked at it again tonight, by jove, I really did still like the shot. So here it is, in all it's glory, a shot of a star in a doorway of a bar in St. Louis. By the way, Cicero's has like 52 beers on draft if you are nearby and getting thirsty. Friendly bartenders, as well, not afraid to get you to taste some of the more unusual fare.
Have a nice night, hope to see you tomorrow morning first thing...

Hi Reed,
looks like a nice place to walk in, sit down and stay for a while. Never heard of Fontella Bass before, but St. Louis is a long way from here. But it´s also a long way from Rome to St. Louis, and still Cicero arrived there, so why not Fontella Bass in Bucharest.
Ok, that was a bit confuse...
Have a nice day,
Johannes

Hello Reed,
The atmosphere you create here is soulful, and very effective. Just last summer I took a photo of my wife and a close friend of ours in front of Harry's Bar in Venice, where Ernest Hemingway used to hang out while visiting the city. I would have loved to do something artistic also, but it does not have the inherent mood of this shot, with our without people in it, yet alone family and friends. The frame is appropriate and understated — perfect!
Warm regards,
Bulent
