Photographer’s Note

Well, Easter is finally here, this is when we can most expect the weather to turn good in St. Louis, at least in between thunderstorms and tornadoes. We will have warm days and cool nights until about the end of June, I will want to skip many a day of work to go out shooting, I'm sure. Hmmm, guess I have to schedule that trip to southern Missouri to visit one of my employees at the hospital he supports... See, already plotting!

Anyway, I took this photograph last weekend when I went to the Crown Candy Kitchen to buy some Easter candy for my wife and mother-in-law. We always try to get down there before Easter, they make some wonderful goodies - it is like a pilgrimage for many in St. Louis. This is another place that is typical St. Louis, very traditional. Families take their children here for treats, and for many decades those children have taken their children. Now you can hardly get in the door on Sunday! I braved the line that Sunday morning to get my chocolate bunnies and some foil-wrapped truffle eggs. Regrettably, the eggs I got for my wife are already gone, I think they disappeared by Wednesday...

This gal is having almost as hard a time deciding what to get as I did. They still make this candy at the Crown Candy Kitchen, using all the old metal molds. They are wonderfully done - as you can see from their web site they make candy for all the holidays, too!

Shot hand-held inside towards a window, removed some noise, lightened some shadows, added the frame, re-sized and sharpened.

Have a great day, no matter why you buy chocolate!
