Photographer’s Note
This is the front of an old church in St. Louis City called The Tower Grove Abbey. It is a beautiful century-old church that is being newly developed as a multi-use performance center for arts, education, and community programs. It is located in the Tower Grove East neighborhood of south St. Louis, a neighborhood making a resurgence.
Last Saturday night, my wife told me we were coming to this church to see a play called "Sylvia". Being the good sport I am, I said, "What for?" and she said "Because I want to." which is good enough reason for me. Sometimes it takes dynamite to blow me off the couch, but usually Linda has pretty good luck finding fun and interesting things to do. I am not a sort of person who enjoys theater, at least, I hated "Phantom of the Opera" back when we saw that, so I thought I might be able to redeem this evening by getting a few photos, so I brought my camera.
Well, you know what happened? I totally enjoyed the play, which was about a man who brings home a stray dog (ironically, the theater group's name is Stray Dog Theatre) to his newly empty-nested home and wife. His wife does not want the responsibility or bother of the dog, but of course, he gets totally involved with the stray, played by a young lady named Paris McCarthy. You can read all about it in the link above if you are interested, I won't bore everybody with it here. I had to admit it was totally fun, even if I was told that I cannot take photographs of the actual play (after I shot five or six...).
I put an image of the inside of the theater in the workshop. It was well done, and I think I may try it out again, without the camera around my neck.
Have a great Saturday!

Hi Reed. So people went rushing to your five girl photo, I must confess that I wanted to do the same but I guess this one deserves at least my 2 points :-). I like the composition with the inclusion of the sign. It's a nice piece of architecture with the lttle tiles creating a nice effect. It's a bit dark but I presume that it was taken against light. Good note. Have a nice day. Paulo
