[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge connects Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with East Cape Girardeau, Illinois over the Mississippi River. This was taken from the riverfront in downtown Cape Girardeau in front of the flood wall, which is somewhat of a tourist attraction, even at night with all the nearby restaurants.

The only problem with this location (at least for taking photos) is all the bright lights illuminating the riverfront. There's not really a good place to take a photo without overexposing those lights. This was taken with just a little point-and-shoot camera set on a fence post, as it was rather spur-of-the-moment. When I get a chance, I'd like to take my other camera some night and try again, maybe get away from the lights, or at least figure out how to get a similar picture without overexposing those lights. Any suggestions? I tried to fix it somewhat in Photoshop, and it is better than the original (slightly, anyway).

Perhaps the best solution would be to go over to the Illinois side of the river and try again, but there's honestly nothing over there but swamp and trees - no roads to get to a decent location, no safe place to park, and I'm not really up to hiking through swamps in the dark anyway. :)

Hi Karen,

this capture has great motive and it is of high quality, the only thing that bothers is this strong light inside of frame, overexposed and taking all the attention instead of this beautiful bridge. Maybe next time try not to create shot so close to light sourse of maybe more from ground. Still is a beuatiful effort of most excellent motive, bridge, an architectural art.

I think I prefer the other point of view where you have more to see in front of the bridge.

Like the Jeri said, the strong light on the RHS is also a little too strong for the light intensity of the bridge.
