Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge at Night
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge connects Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with East Cape Girardeau, Illinois over the Mississippi River. This was taken from the riverfront in downtown Cape Girardeau in front of the flood wall, which is somewhat of a tourist attraction, even at night with all the nearby restaurants.
The only problem with this location (at least for taking photos) is all the bright lights illuminating the riverfront. There's not really a good place to take a photo without overexposing those lights. This was taken with just a little point-and-shoot camera set on a fence post, as it was rather spur-of-the-moment. When I get a chance, I'd like to take my other camera some night and try again, maybe get away from the lights, or at least figure out how to get a similar picture without overexposing those lights. Any suggestions? I tried to fix it somewhat in Photoshop, and it is better than the original (slightly, anyway).
Perhaps the best solution would be to go over to the Illinois side of the river and try again, but there's honestly nothing over there but swamp and trees - no roads to get to a decent location, no safe place to park, and I'm not really up to hiking through swamps in the dark anyway. :) |
